The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

It took my wife and I awhile to get around to visiting the zoo. We picked a nice weather Saturday in February when the zoo had admission prices on sale. We arrived early to get a good parking spot (see later comment). My wife brought her wheelchair due to the amount of walking required. We found getting around the zoo... More

It's really a toss up for us whether we prefer this one or the zoo in Fort Worth. We could spend all day here- and the kids won't be on their phones, so two thumbs way up!!!!

The Dallas Zoo and Fort Worth Zoo are differentiated by two things to me. The Dallas Zoo gives you the opportunity to feed the giraffes if they feel like eating. The FW zoo allows you to be a little closer to the elephants than the Dallas zoo. The Dallas Zoo has a great variety of animals but does fall short... More

Although there are are cool animals at the Dallas Zoo, there where not nearly as many as we hoped and there's a lot of walking in between them. We had three small kids and ended up carrying them to try to get through as much of the zoo as possible. The play area was just a playground with a goat.... More

This was a good zoo, however I expected A LOT more being that it is in a big city like Dallas! Tons of animals as expected however this place could be bigger and better!

Very nice zoo. Not ever TOO crowded. Kids always have a great time here. Very hot in summer, take breaks.

For cheaper price than LA zoo, its more than you expected. Husband and I enjoyed it. We got to see a cheetah run, shows are phenomenal! I enjoyed it

I absolutely loved this zoo/aquarium! The exhibits are stunning and it is a very clean well maintained place! I highly recommend seeing if in Dallas/Fort Worth area! Well worth the entrance fee!

My adult daughter and I spent 4 hours at the zoo today and had a great experience. This is a really well done zoo, in my opinion. Every staff we ran into was friendly and knowledgeable, eager to answer questions and share their info about the animals. I've never been so close to so many animals in one zoo day... More

My two children (6&4) and I went on a Saturday. It was fantastic! We bought a family membership and look forward to many more visits this year. Feeding the giraffes was a highlight for us.
