I have been to this place, more than 4 times. This lake is very big and has running/walking trails. It is situated outside of the city and it is always pleasant to spend time here in the late evening (after sun set). Good place to take photos during winter foggy morning and sunset evening.

The downside of living in a big city is that you need a place which is easily accessible, family friendly with multiple options and free :) Despite staying in DFW for 2 years, this was our first visit to the lake. We have seen it from Arboretum but never took out the time to actually visit it. There are many... More

I consider WRL to be our Central Park. While it may not have nearly as many features and extras, its definately just as much as a place to escape for a few minutes or all day if you like.

Enjoyable walk on path by lake. Beautiful trees. Bicycles welcome. Outhouses and picnic tables available.

Once the city water supply now just a park on a lake. Dog park at the north end - a sailing club rent kayaks but probably not a place I would choose to swim. After a heavy rain the spilllway is quite a site and when the water is slower it is covered in birds.

We attended a wedding here. It was very nice. We watched the sunset while seeing the city across the lake. It is a beautiful place to go and relax. Our son enjoyed being able to run around and get some fresh air.

Close to Dallas, a little crowded sometimes, but great place to go ride bikes and there's even a enclosed dog park. It's clean. The grassy area is a little rough and patchy some places but you can still have picnics and whatnot. Makes for a beautiful sunset view of Dallas as well.

Looking for a near-by, last-minute something-to-do with the kids, we drove around until we stopped at White Rock Lake Park. My wife, children (5 yo and 2 yo, at the time), and I walked along the trail for a bit. The kids had fun throwing sticks in the water, before we took them to the playground. The lake is nice... First, the address listed on here takes you to one of many parking places. I found it really helpful to have the address so I could tell my friends where to park. Don't underestimate the size of the lake. My friend and I thought we could walk around the whole thing but within an hour we realized it was much... More
