This is just a short walk from the 6th floor museum. It's a huge outdoor sculpture. You can walk inside and around. It's extremely interesting to see and it's clear that JFK made a huge impact and people wish to honor him.
I came here just after sunrise and I had the whole place to myself. The memorial is very plain and very simple, but I experienced solemnness and tranquility despite the constant traffic on the surrounding streets.
took the TRE rail from fort worth to dallas and walked to the plaza. Very interesting to visit as well as walking to where JFK was assassinated. Be careful of all those who try to tell you the story for some charge.
Read up the history on this landmark before wasting your time. It’s supposed to symbolize a open casket. The White House wanted it to be made of granite but the Texas governor at that time decided concrete would be just fine.

And as you stated it is only a block away from Dealy Plaza and it is listed on the JFK tour package. Thank you for pointing out the error. But at this time I am unable to correct the posting.
