Love a good train ride

Four of us took the Hill Country Flyer to Burnet. The weather was perfect. Unless you have children, you might want spring for the adults-only car, as excited little kids tend to... read more

The train would be fun for young children once. The scenery is not all that great and wouldn't be something that would warrant a repeat.

We took the train on a Sunday and had a very relaxing day. We rode in the air condition car and am glade we did as it warmed up quickly in the afternoon. Enjoyed the ride but there wasn't much to do at the stops the train had made. The western shootout was fun to watch. Next time we are... More

We went on the train this past weekend. Our car was dark and most of the lights didn't work, so we were like in a cave. For the good parts, Santa was wonderful with kids, as was the book reader. This was enjoyable. Hot chocolate and cookies were enjoyed. The guy with a guitar didn't know all the words to... More

The North Pole flyer was such a disappointment. It was not worth the money!! This train is very dated and not in a charming way. It's pulled by a diesel engine not a steam train which was misleading. They try to make it more interesting with some Christmas Carolers, Santa Claus, book reading, and Mrs. Claus. Half of the workers... More

Austin Steam Train Association operates excursion trains out of Cedar Park, Texas. Both half day and full day trips are available; check the website for schedules. Special theme trains operate during holidays, as do trains featuring wine and craft beer tastings. The vintage train cars, all of which are air conditioned, give a feel for what it was like to... Four of us took the Hill Country Flyer to Burnet. The weather was perfect. Unless you have children, you might want spring for the adults-only car, as excited little kids tend to create a lot of noise. Fortunately we found a small private lounge where we hung out for the return trip. The steam engine is undergoing renovations; instead we... More

Our 2 daughters and their husbands were taking us on a belated 60th wedding anniversary. We had told them we wanted a train ride and this was a great selection. We boarded the train in Bertram for a 2 hour ride. The ride was great and we had very goog service by the ladies on our car. The conductor, Dave... More

This was a delight for my grandson. There were so many things for the youngsters to do that day and the train ride (tho brief) was a real treat. Can't wait to take the full day ride out in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Our adult kids, my husband and I went on the beer flyer tonight. Amazing time! Four courses of gourmet food paired with 4 different beers- all on a 2 1/2 hour beautiful train ride on a vintage coach. It was different, enjoyable and memorable. They have numerous special events- check the website. Upcoming they have a tequila night, a wine... More

Was pleasantly surprised how fun this trip was. Great fun riding on the train then having lunch and shopping one of the stops was a treat!
