Longhorn Cavern State Park is a very unique park in that it's not that big and it doesn't have things like camping or cabins. What it does have is very educational. The cavern itself is so awesome. You have to take a guided tour to see it and it's a little pricey ($15 for each adult and $12 for kids... More

The drive along Park Road 4 (from Buchanan Dam) was a great beginning to our cave tour. Have never seen so many Indian blankets and bluebonnets - spectacular! Definitely make this trip during the spring. The history and work of the CCC in developing this area is amazing. Once inside the cave, the rock formations and subterranean views do not... More

The tour was much longer than expected. Wear good shoes because it is very slippery inside the cave. The guide was knowledge and have lots of great information about the history of the cave.

We explored the limestone cave with tour guide Allie on Sunday. We only had to wait 5 - 10 minutes before setting out down to the cave. The cave was incredibly beautiful particularly the crystal room with calcite crystals in the walls and ceiling and the stalactites. We learned about the geological and social history of the cave and the... More

We ended up at Longhorn Cavern SP after our initial plan to visit Enchanted Rock didn't work out because of it being closed due to high crowds during spring break. I'm glad we went with plan B! The cave tour (additional cost) was really great. This is a different type of cave than most but is still very interesting. We... More

This was my wife's first trip into a cave and she greatly enjoyed it. The guide was great and told us quite a bit of history about the caverns from use by Indians, moonshiners, etc. I don't what to give away all of the secrets, so go take the tour for the rest of the story.

We went on spring break so it was quite crowded. Had to wait a little over an hour for our tour to start so we explored the area. Nice little hike and an old building with lots of great photo opportunities. Our tour guide was great. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the cave and different formations in... More

Well worth the drive and money. One of the highlights of our trip to Austin. Incredible cavern, very beautiful. Tour guide was informative and funny. Kiddos were amazed at the experience---adults, too. All around a great activity. Candy bars and drinks were surprisingly affordable at the visitor center. For those with young kids, bring a babycarrier vs a stroller. Using... More
