This museum had a modern addition attached to an historic building as well as a reproduction of a log cabin. There were loads of interactive exhibits. A huge focus was on archaeology. We learned that they have evidence of people living in central Texas as far back as 13,400 years ago! The exhibits were kid-friendly--you could open drawers and view... More

I live this place! They have scavenger hunts for the kids, they even have non reader ones. They change out exhibits often, but they also have permanent ones.

Not old and stale, but interesting subjects covered about Bell County and other displays shared by other museums. They care what they do here !

The Bell County Museum is always bringing something new or should I say "old" to Belton. If you love history and seeing it up close, stop by.

I only agreed to go there to appease my spouse, because is a man's wife isn't happy, she will make his life crappy, while a happy wife is a happy life. The museum isn't flashy, but it is comprehensive, including excellent exhibits on area geology, climate, and history. We spent an hour and would have stayed longer, but the staff... More

Richard and I joined about 40 other people at the Gault Archaeological Site in Florence, TX this morning! What an adventure back in time! Our tour guide was Dr. Clark Wernecke, Executive Director of the Gault School of Archaeological Research! He was so informative, but made it interesting and entertaining! If you live in the central TX area, check this... More

The Bell County Museum brings amazing traveling exhibits to its already excellent local exhibits. Currently, the partnership with the Gault Site makes this a must plan and see experience. Go to the museum website and schedule a tour of the Gault Site. Learn about this earliest of human settlements located nearby.

This was a VERY interesting museum (especially as a new comer to town), high quality and free. I learnt a lot and had a lovely time. An added bonus with visiting exhibits- currently one from Washington DC
