Even though the day we drove the new section of the parkway was rainy and foggy, it did not dissapoint! So beautiful and there are plenty of pull outs to take in the view. It would be great on motorcycles as well.

The last 16 miles between Walland and Wears Valley opened November 10, 2018. This bypasses Townsend but you can always drive back. The views are incredible. This is so worth the time to drive to see the Great Smoky Mountains and the valley of Townsend....More

We drove the missing link of the Foothills Parkway today between Wears Valley and Walland and it was absolutely amazing. If you haven't rode it yet it is very much worth the drive. Road is very nice as it was just finished but the pull-offs...More

If you love the mountains, this is a must drive. The drive is beautiful and even during the peak color season it is usually uncrowded. We always make this a part of our trip.

Looking forward to the opening of the new section and the new vistas it will offer. Great spot for sunrise and sunset photos across the valleys to the mountains.

Easy pleasant drive with great views of the Smokies and the valley. Plenty of turnouts for photo opportunities - bring a good camera!

Although similar to the Cherohala Parkway, this one will take a bit longer if you stop at some of the many scenic overlooks. Twisty roads, a scenic treasure, and moderate traffic is to be expected especially during "leaf peeping" season. Take the Cade's Cove loop...More

We took the Foothills parkway to Look Rock Tower. It was a beautiful drive. After exploring Look Rock Tower, we continued on. It is worth the drive.

The vistas were beautiful with sweeping turns and hills. Certainly you must pay attention to the winding roads, but plenty of overlook pull offs to get that photo opportunity. Great ride.

Just this past Wednesday went for a beautiful sunny fall day drive. The Foothills Parkway offers lots of pull offs to stop and enjoy the views. The speed limit is very low/slow and their are not any facilities (food/gas/restrooms) at all on this drive. Very...More

Take 321 North out of Pigeon Forge. I believe it is light 3. It takes you through Wears Valley. You will arrive at the light in Townsend in about 15 miles. Take a right and run it out a few miles and you will see the parkway... More

There are a few motels in Townsend, TN, which is just minutes from the Parkway and minutes from the entrance to the National Park. We can also highly recommend renting a cabin with Dogwood Cabins in Townsend!
