I really enjoy this little activity, however the only complaint is it is a little pricey for no more than you get in a bucket. Not to mention having to pay a bit if you want to have a piece of jewelry made.

I loved this place when I was a kid. My parents used to take me here on our vacations and they spent way too much money here for me lol. My mom got them to make a ring for her out of a garnet I got in the mine 8+ years ago, and now is getting them to make a... More

We had a terrific time doing this! Bought one of the larger buckets and shared, then my youngest liked it so much, he asked to buy another smaller bucket with his own money! I had two stones cut and set, and they came out beautiful. Shasta was very helpful in selecting stones and settings, and she knew so much about... More

The staff were fun and friendly. Gem buckets might be a little overpriced but I got some nice stones. You get a free cutting of the lower prices stones or a certain amount off the nicer stones. I chose a sapphire the 1st day and an amethyst the 2nd.

Ok, so maybe not so hidden, but along with riding coasters, this was our favorite thing to do during our second trip to the Smokies. They had a plethora of gorgeous gems, minerals and fossils. There were many types of buckets to choose from based on price (from $35 to $1000 😵). You shovel out sandy dirt containing the gems... More

I'm a gemologist, so this was perfect for me. My son had a great time sifting through the sand. You can purchase all different sizes of buckets to suit your budget. The staff were very friendly and explained every gem/mineral you found in your bucket. They even offer free cutting of a stone if you like.

This is a pretty cool place to take the children. Even though we were a lot older, we had so much fun mining for gems and having the staff to tell us what we got. Had a ring made and excited to see it when it comes in.

My child buys a bag of sand, picks out every rock she can fine(she collects them), walks out with what our local jeweler appraised as about $400 worth of gems. The settings they can put the gems in are a bit overpriced and the stones fall out real easily, though.

This is one of my son's favorite places. This year I finally got some jewelry made from the gems he found. The prices were way less than I had expected and I now have a favorite piece of jewelry. It's special because my son found the gem it's set with. I've had my ring on since I got it two... More

My husband and I had such a great time mining. I found some beautiful rocks and had Pigeon Forge Gem Mine cut them into beautiful stones. We bought the $100 bucket and found a ton of surprises in every scoop.
