Belle Meade Plantation is a non-profit historic site located in Nashville, TN. Established in 1807, Belle Meade was revered as the greatest thoroughbred stud farm in the United States. It was home to Iroquois, the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby and the great foundation sire,Bonnie Scotland, whose descendants include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Native Dancer, Big Brown and California Chrome.

Belle Meade was owned and operated by the Harding-Jackson family for nearly a century from 1807 until 1906. Today their home is restored to its turn of the century appearance along with several original outbuildings.

We purchased a two-for-one deal from Groupon and enjoyed the afternoon learning about this beautiful plantation. We've been on plantation tours where you only tour a few rooms, not the case here. Madeline (I think that was her name), was very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions easily. She took us through each room and allowed us ample time... More

We spent some time wandering the beautiful grounds before deciding to buy tickets for the guided tour of the mansion. Boy, were we glad we did. Our tour guide entertained us with the history and stories of the family as well as each room of the mansion all while dressed in traditional mid twentieth century clothing. A complimentary wine tasting... More

I was very intrigued by all of the history and stories that the tour guide shared with us. Fun stories, sad stories and even stories about the Christmas tradition and it's beginnings which I had no prior knowledge to before. The tour was quick enough that I didn't get bored yet long enough for me to be entertained by my... More

Quiet afternoon, great hospitality and great place to walk. Buy a bottle of wine and sit in the gardens. Hubby and I used the Groupon thing and got in 1/2 price. $20 for both of us instead of $40. I especially liked the period costumes they wore on home tour.

Such a beautiful place. It has a very interesting history and the guide was wonderful. You can tour the grounds on your own, but the mansion tour is guided. You should get a ticket ahead if you are on a time schedule. The winery stop at the end of the mansion tour was very nice. Very tasty wines to be... More

We found this listed on a hotel magazine and didn't know what to expect. The tour guide was amazing - funny, knowledgeable, engaging with the crowd. The mansion was also decorated for Christmas. There was a wine tasting at the end that really made for great afternoon. We actually bought six bottles of wine.

Good tour of the house and the grounds. A thoroughbred horse location. Don't forget to check out the external buildings as they have lots of history.

I must admit that I was talked into going to Bellemeade by my travel buddies. Not having a car with us, we hopped the local bus to the plantation. Upon arrival I immediately realized it was well worth it. The grounds and history of this historical stud farm were humoursly shared by our guide Rob, whose knowledge was encyclopaedic. A... More

My company rented out the Belle Meade Plantation for an event. We had an outdoor buffet style dinner, a cocktail hour bar with mason jar drinks, and a guitarist. During the cocktail hour / appetizer portion, we were allowed to tour the property and gardens - VERY cool. After dinner, we had a live band in the barn which was... More

This plantation's history is fascinating. There are grounds to walk and a tour through the mansion with a tour guide dressed in period attire. At the end of the mansion tour there is a wine tasting and a gift shop. The tour guide is very knowledgeable. This is a very interesting history lesson.
