We drove down on easter weekend to admire the autumn foliage in this lovely little country town. Although it was packed with tourists for Melbourne we found parking easily just a few minutes' walk from the famous Avenue of Honour with its glorious planting of trees which were displaying the full range of autumnal colours. A warning to be careful... More

Nice drive to the top with plenty of parking. Shop/cafe for souvenirs, meals or take away coffee. Memorial Cross with great views back towards the city and across the countryside. Various nearby walks. Quiet and peaceful.

Mt Macedon is a serene quiet place to visit with a fabulous view and some seats to spend some quiet time to remember our servicemen and women. The gardens are lovely depending on the time of the year. There is a cafe nearby to eat morning or afternoon tea or lunch.

'The Mount' as it is affectionately known by locals is a lovely day trip. Only an hours drive from Melbourne CBD, it makes for a great day trip. The drive up the mount through the picturesque mountain drives past large houses, lovely established gardens and native bush. The Summit of Mount Macedon is technically 'The Camel's Hump' a short steep... More

Ohkay. Seen the pictures, very excited. But the weather was such a bugger on that day. Strong winds, foggy and raining. But! That didn't deter us(and a handful of others) from visiting! We were surprised and I guess the foggy situation gave it a whole new level of feel to the place. Hanging rock was still as beautiful with the... More

The top of Mt Macedon is a very special place. A short 200 metre walk from the carpark, on a sealed track, brings you to an incredible lookout, facing back towards Melbourne.....can be seen on a clear day. The huge memorial cross is amazing and you can read the history of the cross at the entry gates. Beautiful surrounding gardens... More

We had visited the You Yangs and then went to the top of Macedon. There is an eating place up there, plenty of parking and lots of walking. We visited the memorial to the World War veterans and it is impressive. Look forward to have lots of time to explore the area further.
