Like others you don’t expect much upon arrival, but what a surprise. Walking around with a Sony Walkman, yes an actual old fashion cassette player. The kitchen Is a gem. I have never seen actual gas lamps working but the cellar have them all over....More

This museum is unique because it's hands on, which I imagine would be great for parents not having to worry about their kids touching the exhibits. We took the audioguides (a Sony Walkman!) which was more a story telling experience than informative. I enjoyed listening...More

I must admit we weren't expecting much from The Judges Lodgings Presteigne, however right from when we were given our quirky tape recorders (yes, tapes!) to listen to some informative info to being able to sit through a hearing - it was great! Being able...More

I must admit I wasn't expecting much from this as it looks pretty unprepossessing from the outside. However, it's a great place to spend an hour or two, with a really interesting audio guide and a building that really does take you back in time...More

The Judges Lodgings Presteigne proved to be a very different sort of museum with all items available to touch, sit on etc. Lit by gas and oil lamps the effect was to re-create how it would have been. Very interesting and well worth a visit.

Staying in Presteigne this was always on the radar. Not really sure what to expect. What a surprise? A little homespun perhaps but probably one of the most authentic museums we’ve been to. Unusual subject matter but all the better for that. Worth visiting, if...More

From the warm welcome when we arrived to the end of the tour with coffee this was one of the best places we have ever visited. Every room felt as if the occupants would be returning at any minute to join us in their allotted...More

Went here about 10 years ago and again this year. It hasn't changed much (apart from the ticket area) and that's no bad thing for a museum. There is a stark difference between the opulent upstairs and the basics of the cellar living quarters. It...More

My friend and guide believes this museum to be a must-see for his visitors and I was not disappointed. In fact, spend more than an hour if you can and stop into the ''cop shop'' where there are very readable descriptions of real cases from...More
