We had a wonderful time at this reserve. On arriving late one Friday afternoon (15 minutes before closing) we entered the reception to make enquiries about access and opening times. We explained that we were members of the RSPB but that we had left our cards at home and suggested that they look us up on their system to confirm... More

We spent several hours at the Reserve, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and obviously passionate about their work. We walked the Saltmarsh and Forest trails, both very well signposted - a truly beautiful spot, just remember your binoculars and camera, we forgot and missed several photo opportunities during our walk

Favourite place to be, I visit frequently. Huge reserve, amazingly maintained, staff are knowledgeable, it looks wonderful in any weather in all seasons! This site has been left as wild as possible so you won't find tarmacked paths or heated hides- you're here for the wildlife and there's plenty to be found (not just birds either!) Three trails of over... More

Stunning location , well worth spending some time exploring the different routes watching the varied wildlife. Shame we live so far away but will be back before wo go home next week. Very helpful and friendly staff. Well worth a visit if you're interested in wildlife.

I visit Ynis Hir at least twice a year and love this place. I have seen redstarts, black caps, reed warblers, willow warblers, kites, heron, green woodpeckers....the list is huge. This is a place to spent time in......patience is needed and a good pair of binoculars. The staff are welcoming and helpful. A great day out for someone who appreciates... More

This is a very well presented RSPB centre. Set in a beautiful location in mid Wales with various hides and walks. An interesting reception area with guides, drinks and snacks.

At the end of a lovely lane and overlooking a small lake sits the RSPB office. There is a good, clean toilet block, a small car park and a few picnic tables overlooking the lake. In the bird feed area is a squirrel circus with many of them acrobating on the feeders to raid the food. The staff here are,... More

In a two hour visit got up close and personal with a sedge and a grasshopper warbler! Plenty of paths, bird hides and a variety of bird species to see. Helpful staff to tell you where the interesting birds are

So good it was used by the BBC as backdrop for Springwatch. Great mix of terrain linked by easy paths and boardwalks. Lots of hides and useful information from a well equipped reception.
