Visited today, beautiful reserve, lovely walks and amazing birds. Not a very good welcome on arrival at the reception and when we didn’t join rspb felt totally dismissed. Only saw one bird feeder at reception and it was empty !! Only one member of staff...More

Absolutely loved this place. very tranquil with some great walks and birding to be had. The hides are well sighted and even though it was a beautiful day and the carpark was pretty full it didn't seem too busy. The shop staff were very friendly...More

I have now visited Ynys-Hir twice and although it may not have birds in the numbers that the RSPB's flagship reserve of Minsmere has it does have a magic of its own. With its mix of woodland, marsh, grassland and estuary it is a lovely...More

This was my first experience of a RSPB nature reserve - and it made me want to visit more! I was amazed how much we could see as we walked around the reserve following the well-marked footpaths and visiting the hides. Given the time of...More

Driving up to Machynlleth, we drove through the area of the Ynys Hir Wildlife Reserve. Simply stunning natural scenery. Well worth the detour and stopping to enjoy the views.

To me this is one of the rspbs showcase reserves. The Welsh specialities, wood warbler, Pied flycatcher and Redstarts are all here in the breeding season. The osprey nests near by and can be seen fishing from the reserve. Red kites can be seen and...More
