About Anglesey Sea Salt Company - Halen Mon
An innovative artisan food company that lets visitors look behind the scenes of a family business and finishes with a tutored sea salt tasting. Our one-of-a-kind tour is recommended for anyone interested in salt’s place in our history, culture, food and in what makes Halen Môn Sea Salt a world-famous seasoning. The contemporary building sits well in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and houses a contemporary gift shop too, full of wares from near and far (you don't need to book a tour to visit the shop.) We also have an outdoor cafe - Tide/ Llanw - which always has cover from the elements and plenty of warming options. Free use of purpose built car park, cycle racks, quality toilets and fantastic views in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

With the current Covid restrictions there are no tours however we decided we would visit the shop which is open. Plenty of local products and of course Anglesey sea salt. We came for the gin which is made with the local salt. Staff were very nice and the shop is big enough for everyone to space out. Good Covid instructions at the door and one way system in place.

Someone had a great vision for Catering at the factory. However as a customer it is poor. Debris on tables, bins full and three staff chatting with only a few customers on site. Please train the Catering staff to interact with Customers, make recommendations and generally not gossip about their private lives in such volume that customers can hear all about it. Unfortunately it reflects upon the Halen Mon brand and its Complete integrity. PS when you arrive someone has scratched the opening closing signs of the kiosk on the main sign

Thank you for your review, we appreciate the feedback. Firstly please accept my apologies for what you experienced. We have had almost completely positive reviews about our staff, food and ambience of the cafe and so I am very surprised to hear your comments. These are difficult times for us all in the hospitality industry and it may be that you visited us at the end of a very busy period so we had not had the chance to clear up properly. I am unable to respond to some of your comments as I am not sure what you mean, for example, about 'make recommendations'? Please do email me on hello@halenmon.com if you would like to explore these issues in more depth.

Love stopping off here, the proximity to the sea zoo ( where it all started) gives the perfect opportunity to do a two in one trip. Staff are always polite and helpful, shop well stocked. Although usual tasting bowls are for obvious reasons not available currently. Not sure if guided tours are running at the moment but would highly recommend from previous experience. As usual spent a bit more than I meant but worth it to take a taste of Anglesey home.

We went on a pre-booked visit through Travelzoo which included a guided tour around the production and packing area plus we could view the process and history of the business. The enlightening tour given by Michelle was extremely informative and this ended with a tasting session of different salts. Having tasted various sea salts from other countries the Halen Mon sea salt definitely tastes the best and looks amazing. The shop contains a high number of different flavoured and smoked salts plus other salt related products. The offer also included an opportunity to sample the culinary delights in their small adjacent cafe. Wow! The sweet potato hummus with lentils, fennel and lemon was superb and the chocolate brownie with Halen Mon sea salt (of course) was the best we have ever tasted. We thoroughly recommend a visit to this place to anyone. Luckily we got there before the Corona Virus restrictions.
