Having visited the Beaumaris Gaol, we continued at the courthouse. It isn't as big as the Gaol but you have the advantage of watching a DVD of the trial of a local man. You sit in the room where the trail took place. As with the display material in the Gaol, it was easy to read and understand.

Great place to visit - if you combine this with a trip to the Goal, you do get a small discount. Only fault was that a few of the information boards did not work, so guessing the punishment for the crime can not be revealed!! It was interesting though.

We as a family came to visit the courthouse on a day visit to Beaumaris, we combined it with the gaol. Was interesting to see the punishments given and then where the prisoners went!

The courthouse is in the centre of Beaumaris, just behind the main street but a bit hidden away. It has a strong atmosphere, feeling very real and authentic and quite moving at times. It's one of the oldest buildings in the town - apart from the castle, of course. When Charles Dickens was a reporter, he reported from this very... More

Definitely recommend a visit to the Courthouse, preferably before visiting the Gaol. A fantastic historical building, which transports you to times when the law did not make sense and highlighted the hardships of locals through the years. The audio commentary was informative and pitched at the right level to suit all ages. The exhibits were brilliant, and allows visitors to... More

A hidden gem close to the castle, which opens your eyes to the struggles of years past. The unfair law system, with random sentences, where stealing was considered a far more serious act than murder! The unfairness of magistrates being English and dealing with offenders who only spoke Welsh. A great place to inform and educate and provide a snippet... More

Almost opposite the Castle and almost hidden is the Courthouse. Definitely worth a visit it gives you a real picture of justice in times past. You can walk all around it and there is an audio guide giving just the right amount of information. If you visit here be sure to visit the gaol house which is short walk away.

Small but very interesting. Enjoyed listening to the audio however both of ours broke so we had to get some more only a minor hitch you can't complain when it's £3.80 each to have a look around.the audios are free. Polite staff on the door too.

We bought the combined Court House and Gaol visit and both proved worthwhile. The audio guides for the Court House are provided free of charge and are a must to hear the stories relating to the court cases and sentences which took place here. A lot of the original court remains intact and is well preserved. It's good that you... More
