Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson is one of my all time British heroes, second only to T.E.Lawrence. This museum is a fascinating insight into his naval career and his life. It's free and donations welcomed but not pressed. I was surprised to find this museum in...More

Free entry and several interesting exhibits. I made an enquiry about the Salvation Army in Monmouth, and the ladies on duty had no personal knowledge. One of the ladies then searched the internet, and whilst the other went to their small collection of Kelly's Directories...More

I thought I'd just pop in here quickly but it's bigger than it seems! Good displays and lots of information about the local area. Interesting stop.

Went in around 12ish and it wasn't busy at all. Half of the museum was shut and only Nelson bit was open. It was OK but seemed crammed in a small space. Some interesting letters but not much else I would say

Very enjoyable displays of: 1. Lord Nelson (who actually had nothing to do with Monmouth !) 2. Nearby Rockfield recording studio based on an ex farm famous for various albums recorded there. With a visit.

This may well be an interesting museum, but if you're only in Monmouth for a short time, bear in mind it's shut from 1-2pm, as we discovered on arriving there a couple of minutes before 1 o'clock!
