The first part of the climb through woods is the hardest in terms of fitness. As you leave the trees there is a chunky slate bridge across the stream, a great place to cool off. The route is obvious and so easy to follow with...More

Great mountain. I walked up the foxes path and down the pony path. The latter is easiest and clearly marked. The former has a 1000ft scree slope which is loose and steep. Avoid that in bad weather, or unless v experienced. Would suggest reading up...More

My wife and I completed this walk yesterday. The views at the top were amazing. The walk was brilliant, the best we have ever done. We feel the walk and views were better than The Lake District. Not too busy even during peak.

After the long slog to the top of cadair idris. Starting from Minffordd 2.75 hrs unrelenting. Then 5 miles down to penmaenpool. Well worth it but be very prepared. Do not underestimate this walk

First time I had climbed Cader Idris and decided on the Minffordd route to keep it simple. Not as busy as Snowdon, but probably more enjoyable. Parking was fine at £2.50, although the machine was not working. We arrived at midday and the car park...More

Cadair Idris is a relatively easy walk (try the Pony track) but affords some of the best 360 degree views in Snowdonia with the Barmouth estuary and beaches to the West, the Snowdonia range to the North and mid Wales to the Brecon Beacons in...More

Driving over the road past Cadair Idris and catching the first glimpse of the glacier lake Tal- y- Llyn in the distance is truly stunning, it looks like a picture postcard. On the left, the mountains look like rounded green velvet coming right down to...More

Just do it. A very special experience with great views of inland and coast. Make sure you are well equipped as weatherconditions can change suddenly.

Hi Aswin, In response to your query, the distance from Ivy House, which is in Dolgellau town, to the start of the Fox's Path and the Pony Path is just under 2 miles. To my knowledge and having made enquiries locally, there... More

Good stamina and fitness are fine - as long as weather is ok. In poor weather navigation skills may be required
