Completed in 1290, this is a fine example of a concentric circle, with outer walls serving as a line of defense around a series of inner walls and the main living quarters.

The castle continues to dominate the little town of Harlech as it has done for centuries. Like many Welsh castles, it is still pretty much complete. Imposing views over the surrounding countryside all the way to Snowdon in the north. It also has an excellent...More

We now come here every time we are in the area for breakfast. Great value for money and really friendly staff. Good gluten free options!

The castle is an impressive stronghold to explore. Information provided is on screens in the gatehouse and a weak audiovisual in the shop. We enjoyed the excellent cafe adjacent to the castle. Parking would have to be in the town itself in high season at...More

A fantastic castle certainly giving you a great idea of what it was like all those years ago. Superb outer walls giving a awesome view across the bay certainly on a sunny day. The view of Snowdonia was impressive from the towers too. If you...More

Harlech train station is very close to the castle but you do have to walk up a very steep hill! Shouldn't take longer than 10-15 minutes and you can get a delicious ice cream at the top :)

My dog loved it only allowed in the grounds and not on the walls etc. The cafe has outdoor seats with lovely views. Lots of cadw castles allow dogs hope this helps. Enjoy x
