The original station is closed and is being refurbished and converted to a hotel, so it should be good when finished, Meanwhile the station is just a room with grumpy staff and two trains (The City of New Orleans) a day one in the morning...More

We caught our train to New Orleans from Memphis Central Station this morning. We were surprised to see how small the waiting room is for a city station and it was jam packed full! There is obviously more to the station than we were allowed...More

This place beat the restaurant Rendezvous for ribs and pork. It was so good and priced so reasonable. Menus are given out as you enter and you must have a decision on what you want prior to reaching the "order/paying" window, then you are seated....More

Its very small and there is no public transport except taxis etc to it as you arrive from Chicago to early and depart for New Orleans to early for buses to get you there on time to book in luggage. Also very busy.

Technically the station opens at 5.45. You may want to make sure they will open early due to schedule glitch. Stay in the station area and do not wander around. There is nothing to see.
