Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song.

It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers.

Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Perhaps there are some people on this earth who wouldn't be AMAZED to visit the studio where Elvis, BB King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, and many other artist began their recording careers, but I couldn't imagine who.

What a rush to be standing in the room where some legendary music was recorded. Music that has brought and will bring happiness to generations of people. I had goosebumps when I entered the studio and got a little shakey when holding the mic. The tour guide Lahna was great and hilarious during the tour. Very fun tour. This is... More

This was a great tour. Worth it. Nina was our guide and she clearly loves her job. This was low tech but authentic. Great info about some of rock & roll's stars. Got to stand in the studio where Elvis recorded and where U2 recorded Rattle & Hum (their drums are still there). We bought a CD of Sun Studio... More

What an experience, a little wary when we first arrived as it appeared small. The tour guide was fun and very passionate about sun studios, very informative and we learned a lot. Worth every penny and more and a must see.

The building is small, but FULL of music history. Even if you are not a big Blues or Rock-n roll fan, you will enjoy this tour. The tour guides make it great. It is well worth the hour or two of your time. Free parking is directly behind the building. Zack was our outstanding guide, but they are all great.

This blew me away. I'm a bit of a Johnny Cash fan to start with so this was always going to be on the list of things to do while in memphis. The place is small and easy to fit in to a busy schedule - courtesy buses from graceland or the rock and soul museum make this so easy... More
