We toured this alone, as no one else was visiting on this rainy day. It was fun to walk through all of the small room that were used as jail cells.

This castle, which has had a varied history, is well worth a visit. It is free admission also and is well placed in the town centre of Stranraer. There are a number of steep steps so if you have some mobility problems then some care...More

Some time to spare so called in without knowing much about the Castle. Its free and the staff were very pleasant. Quite a pleasant surprise. Its history is well presented. Lots of different parts to the castle. Quite old fashioned e.g. the stairs (lots off)...More

After reading reviews we decided to go in and were not disappointed. The information boards are well done and informative, each presenting how rooms were used when it was a castle and when it was a prison. Views at top are great, the climb up...More

We visited just before going to the museum and found it to be small but informative, the children were catered for with drawing and stories so although a brief visit we thought it worth while.

This place is great happened upon it my mistake. Staff are friendly. Entry is free and the exhibits are well displayed and thought out. Lots of stairs but it is worth the climb to get the view from the top.

Hi there - honestly, I don't remember. I'm so sorry I can't be more helpful. Perhaps email them to ask? Both my parents are in their late 60's, so I believe there must have been some sort of hand hold since I don't... More
