Absolutely amazing view at the top. Don't be fool, it's a long and tough walk for the uninitiated. My girlfriend had it an hour in and I thought she was going to break up with me before the end. But trust me, it's all worth it when to get to the top. We went on a sunny day with no... More

We accidently took the steep route up the mountain which was quite tiring but offered amazing views and was more fun than the other route which we used to descend. The summit offers stunning views over Loch Lomond and towards the Highlands. Would recommend taking the shallow, longer route for the ascent and steep route for the descent.

Our hike started on a rare mostly clear day. About two miles up we observed clouds rolling in around the peak. Fortunately, we took the time to admire the gorgeous views of Loch Lomond and the beautiful countryside during our ascent. Soon we were slogging through fog, strong winds, and horizontal rain. We persisted and arrived at the stormy summit,... More

There are two different ways up Ben Lomond. We went up Ptarmigan Way which is steeper and came down the more gradual way. If one has problems with knees I would recommend going up the more gradual way which takes off from the parking area. The views are amazing and we had a lovely time.

Great experience hillwalking up to the summit. If good weather you will have fantastic views of Loch Lomond and other lakes around.

We recently climbed Ben Lomond and it was really nice, but we accidentally took the steep route up! Please if you are not fit do not take this route, I am average I would say and it nearly killed me! It was raining and the climbing bits were so dangerous there was points I was petrified. If you are fit... More

We had a glorious summer day on which to climb Ben Lomond. The recommended walk from the car park was strenuous but at a steady pace achievable by young and old. The rewards are stunning 360 degree views from the summit. One word of caution - the Pfarmigan Trial is much tougher (steep) and not as scenic on the way... More

Don't underestimate the size of this mountain! We only took 2 bottles of water and a bag of sweets, foolish! No view at the top on a wet day but the walk is well worth doing! We saw a lot of kids doing it and either we're very unfit or their ancestors were mountain goats. Top thing to do!

This is an relatively easy but long climb and walk ,but you will be rewarded by of one of the most beautiful views of loch Lomond and the looking north west over the west coast mountains of bonny Scotland and you will see why it is called 'Bonny Scotland ' I personally would climb this when the weather is warm... For our first munro we choose Ben lomond. A well layed out pathway leads all the way to the top. Even the most novice walkers to manage his mountain. And from the top its worth the effort. The views are amazing. We done it with a tough young 6 year old he loved every minute! My advice. GO FOR IT... More
