I'm ashamed to say that as a Scot this was my first visit to the Hill House and long overdue. My wife loved everything about the house and the fitments and furniture that he also designed to go in it. For me it was the...More

I've known of this place since 1967, when my family were considering buying it. I'm pleased they didn't, because it's been so well looked after and "curated" since then, eventually by NTS. They have done McIntosh's masterpiece proud. It's a unique experience, to see the...More

We arrived on a rainy day when the house was already closed for the season but the exterior and grounds/gardens held plenty to geek out about. Laminated guides were available. The house and gardens are beautiful example of CRM's work. A mini, minimalist castle. A...More

Dear Gary P Thank you for taking time to review your visit to The Hill House. I am delighted that the house impressed you with your obvious interest in architecture. Helensburgh, which is a small town on the River Clyde, rather than a village, has...More

Lovers of Art Deco, or just amazing architecture and design, will not be disappointed. Much like Frank Lloyd Wright, MacKintosh not only designed the house, he did the furniture and fittings for most of the house as well. We were so fortunate to visit when...More

This house was designed and built for a wealthy publisher. It has been preserved/restored by National Trust for Scotland and open to visitors. The furnishings are amazing, as is the attention to detail.
