Welcome to Loch Katrine - one of Scotland's special places.

Just as special...

Welcome to Loch Katrine - one of Scotland's special places.

Just as special as the magnificent scenery is the famous steamship "Sir Walter Scott" which itself has been a landmark in The Trossachs for over a hundred years. Your visit is not complete without a cruise on this wonderful ship, or on "Lady of the Lake", the perfect way to experience the beauty of Loch Katrine. Perhaps you'll just want to relax with a coffee or a meal in the Brenachoile Cafe Bar, shop for a souvenir and take a stroll by the shore, or bring the family for a cycle trip?

I was staying at Lochside Cottage at Stronachlachar so my cycle started from there. The route takes you along the north side of Loch Katrine on a very quiet private road, and it is simply stunning. It's about 13 miles to Trossachs Pier, where if you want you can get a boat back to Stronaclachar, (check the times) or if... More

Had a great trip on the Loch on the lady of the lake. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the Loch and surrounding area. A shame the steam boat wasn't available as the website suggested, but that's part of touring off season. Well worth a visit and the home made soup very warming.

We went down to the dock side to have a look round even knowing the season was over . So we're surprised to see boat trips were still on but not on the steamer. We also had our dogs with us and they were allowed into the cabin as it was so cold. Nice touch from the staff who were... More

We spent a morning on the two hour cruise on the Walter scott steamboat. The commentary was excellent.. mind the Rob Roy coffee was better! The boat does say you can take your dogs, but cant go inside, so we left ours at home! Next time we will do the cruise one way and cycle or walk back! Walking around... More

Spent a superb afternoon and evening on the SS Sir Walter Scott, an afternoon sail up Loch Katrine (Rob Roy Special Hot Chocolate laced with whisky 👍) on return to Trossachs Pier burgers and more Hot Chocolate. The finale was a absolutely fantastic firework display put on by the steamship crew. The entertainment for the event was supplied by "Shaky"... More

The trip on The Sir Walter Scott was very enjoyable and the views are stunning: all the more so with the Autumn tints along the shoreline

I have been here three times now This is well worth the visit wonderful scenery and fantastic views. If you go in autumn it can be windy and quite cold so take your warm cloths with you. Will go back

I can imagine it is a nice place at a sunny day - we had rain showers, but we liked it a lot - walks from 1 h up to 4 h are possible and you can explore the Loch by boat or ferry as well.

A must do if in the area. Be sure to mention if you are staying in the area as we got a discount, a nice touch. The little gift shop is nice and all staff very friendly and helpful. Only issue was the parking charges at £5 for the day. Lovely well kept boat and the provision of the blankets... More
