Welcome to Loch Katrine - one of Scotland's special places. Just as special as the magnificent scenery is the famous steamship "Sir Walter Scott" which itself has been a landmark in The Trossachs for over a hundred years. Your visit is not complete without a cruise on this wonderful ship, or on "Lady of the Lake", the perfect way to experience the beauty of Loch Katrine. Perhaps you'll just want to relax with a coffee or a meal in the Brenachoile Cafe Bar, shop for a souvenir and take a stroll by the shore, or bring the family for a cycle trip?

The hike itself was excellent, but the trail heads aren't marked, there're no markers along the way and no info at the main parking area how to find the trail head. A worker at the gift shop just told me to keep walking down the...More

We were very happy that not only could our husbands drive their mobility scooters onto the boat, we carers were charged half price (though this wasn't pointed out, but was available when we asked)

Great way to spend a couple of hours. Being Steam powered there is no smell of diesel no vibration just great views and an open bar. What more could you want. The Sir Walter Scott is in great condition and the staff are very good.

Visited on a grey day. Very atmospheric. Had time for coffee and cake in the cafe before a one hour trip on the Sir Walter Scott. Very peaceful - no noisy Diesel engine here. Cannot beat steam power. Enjoyed the scenery and the witty commentary....More

I have only rated this average as it's a cruise on a Loch and I would guess most Loch cruises are about the same. This one is made interesting by the commentary. Crew were friendly, hot chocolate was very good and you could buy snacks...More

Thank you for your review. We apologize you were not able to sail on the Sir Walter Scott, unfortunately at this time of year we cannot guarantee the Steamship will be running every sailing due to low passenger numbers or bad weather. While there are...More

We arrived just after 3pm, so we only had time for a short cruise. The one hour 4-5pm cruise on board the lovely little 'Lady of the Lake' fit the bill. The water was calm and the scenery very picturesque. From meeting the 'welcoming' ticket...More

On a Lochs & Glens coach tour, a chilly, rainy day, joined our boat The Sir Walter Scott, had been looking forward to our first of 2 arranged cruises in Scotland, was a bit disappointed that whilst waiting for the crew to get the boat...More

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that the sun did eventually pop up for you. The chairs were provided as many people now are reluctant to stand for an hour. We appreciate that it was very busy, being our peak season we rely...More

We had a day out on Loch Katrine, hiring e-bikes from Katrinwheelz at Trossachs Pier, then taking the 117-year-old Steamship Sir Walter Scott to Stronaclachar at the far end of the loch. From there we rode to Loch Lomond and back, then all the way...More

Hi There, as it is inland water the loch is usually quite smooth, we do get the occasional ripple but it's not bad. I do get sixk on the sea myself but Loch Katrine should be ok for you!
