Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the first and only round church I have heard of, and the leaflet I picked up was really interesting about why and when it was constructed. I found the visit absolutely fascinating.

I had never seen or heard of a round church but here it is on Islay. It sits proudly at the top of the street as you drive or walk up the hill on the Main Street in Bowmore. There is a lovely little and well maintained graveyard on the grounds which adds atmosphere to the location. It was open on our visit and you can go inside and learn more about the design.

Finally got to visit this interesting church in Bowmore, Islay. I was the only one there which made it special as it was so quiet and peaceful.

This little church is instantly recognisable from photos of Islay and Bowmore. It sits at the top of the long road going down to the harbour front, with great views of the sea.
Luckily the church was open, and welcome to visitors. It's really unusual in its unique shape and a focal point in the community for concerts etc.
Thank you for your open doors policy, I enjoyed my visit.

Glad we popped into the Round Church, didn't look open but tried the door...and in we went! Very interesting story behind the structure and history.

The history of this lovely Church is all around from when you walk in. Our friends were amazed that you could just walk in off the street to look around.

Framed at the top of a straight road, up at the top of a hill in Bowmore, this church is quite imposing even if it's only two stories high.

It's shape (round so that evil can't hide in the corners) and the free access, for both the ground floor and the balcony, make it interesting but don't expect stained glass windows and spectacular architecture.

My husband and I had the privilege of visiting this sweet little church on the hill on our last vacation to Islay. The congregation was welcoming and the service was moving. The message was straight from the Bible and right on point. We are so glad we made time to experience our Lord with such lovely people.

We didn't have time to go inside this church, so we could only appreciate it from the town of Bowmore. A decent church overlooking the harbor, this is a place that we should spend more time next time when we are in Islay again.

The church is a focal point at the top of the Main Street in Bowmore.
It is said that it was built in a round so that the devil couldn't hide in any of the corners. An interesting graveyard is attached at the side of the church.
