This is a private charity museum and it is absolutely great. It has a bunch of olde shope and the best bit is the telephone exchange where you get to transfer calls from one shope to another. It was absolutly great fun.

Upon driving back from Manchester to Liverpool I came across this Museum and to my delight the museum turns out to be extremely cosy. The staff is also extra friendly and I felt very welcomed. I highly recommend the place to anyone and everyone.

A wealth of local information although I'm sure they could tell more about the post-Roman period which the area must have featured in quite heavily, lying as it did between Brittonic Strathclyde and Anglo-Saxon Northumbria.

A lovely little town and worth a visit along with the other museums and landmarks etc. Located on the High St there is ample free parking outside. The museum is quite small but the exhibits are all very interesting especially as a lot of them...More

Friendly, helpful staff. Terrific displays. Wonderfully well constructed and interesting. Lovely toilets and pretty little shop. Well worth a visit.
