This is not just a must-see, it's a true must-live experience. You will need an experienced and very cold-nerved driver to pass the snake-line road. the view is absolutely unbelievable.

Some cable laying work during the night I understand. Look it does take concentration and though it is 2 way I think it may one day be 1 way, as the coastal road is also VERY spectacular and recommended.

You've driven up mountains before, but this one is different. SIngle-path road, 20% grades, and a view from the top that's above the clouds. Leave an hour up and down and stop along the way to enjoy the views.

We did this drive to Applecross and back and while it was the main reason for visiting Applecross the road was much busier than we expected and the common courtesy of the road seemed to be missing. On single track roads, which this is, you...More

The ultimate white knuckle ride. That said, I would not have missed it for anything, the views are stunning but some of the passing places mean one false move and you’re over the edge😱 Beautiful and terrifying at the same time but I will never...More

We have now climbed this road twice and twenty years ago it was easier as there were fewer fools driving in convoy or with camper vans that are a tad too big for the single tracks. The ruggedness of the scenery remains though the driver...More

Not realizing this is one of only two roads into Applecross, we drove it the first time sort of by accident/surprise! It is certainly not for the faint of heart, but the challenge & views were worth every white knuckle moment. There are plenty of...More

Don’t miss this - it’s a drive to remember. It takes approximately 30 minutes to cover the distance from Applecross to Lochcaran. It is probably best if the most confident driver in your party takes the wheel because it is challenging in parts. There is...More

Drove over in wonderful sunshine and returned at midnight in heavy mist. Both were great for different reasons . This road from a drivers point of view is great but requiring a degree of skill . Not for faint hearted

Definitely worth doing when visiting Scotland, an exciting drive and some of the most beautiful views we've seen.

Sheildaig is lovely and has a good pub and restaurant. Applecross is lovely too but I think its not a good base, unless you like the hairy drive on a regular basis! We stayed in a lodge in Achintraid, just outside of Kishorn... More
