About
This is a 5 star visitor attraction and retail complex. Loch Ness is already the most famous lake in the world but our aim is to make it better understood. This is achieved through a fully audio visually guided 35 minute tour. The presentation is theatrical in style and integrates the real tools and archive footage from four decades of research. As part of our educational remit, under 6s go free. The facts are objectively explained and whilst keeping the mystery centre stage, we place it in the context of the loch's very unusual properties. Thus we are endorsed by Scottish Natural Heritage as "A portal to the unique natural phenomenon that is Loch Ness". We offer a huge range of retail onsite and boat cruises on Loch Ness in the summer months. There is also a large cafe and restaurant attached to the site.

Great visit if slightly dated
Nov 2020 • Couples
Its arranged so you book the day not a time slot which was good. Strange to get into but once there its a good experience. Videos and narrator take you through each room, from 1st sightings to the most recent testing of the loch. It feels a bit dated at times but is worth it as the insights are scientific but easy to understand. Good gift shop too. The hotel with the cafe wasnt great next door though.

Sound and vision experience ideal for families with a very good Nessie orientated shop
Sep 2020
There is free parking and social distancing was in place due to Covid. When I visited there were only two other people at the attraction.

The experience was a sound and vision display where you walked into different rooms for the next bit of the story. Whilst there were some interesting facts about the science behind whether Nessie exists and a story of how a previous manager of the hotel saw the creature, I felt it was more suited to families with children who would probably have appreciated it more then me.

The attraction is within a Victorian hotel so there is food available and there were toilets.

The shop was huge with every type of Nessie related souvenir you could imagine. I bought some gifts as they were fun. There were also some high quality items too - not all with Nessie on them!

Interesting series of rooms with films, children may well get bored!
Nov 2020
Not what I expected but interesting none the less. The exhibition follows a route through several rooms each showing various film clips about different aspects of the Loch. This is a continous exhibition so once one film ends you move on to the next room. The whole experience talks under an hour with the inevitable gift shop at the end. I enjoyed it but feel smaller children may get bored.

Excellent Visit to Loch Ness
Sep 2020 • Couples
We visited the centre this year as it was always something we wanted to do. It did not disappoint. The measures they have put in place for Covid are first class and we felt very safe from the minute we entered. Very thorough and really interesting to find out all the efforts made to search for the elusive Nessie. Parking is easy, the shopping is wide with a large variety of gifts and we enjoyed a nice coffee and cake in the adjoining cafe. Looking forward to our next visit.

Informative and interesting but not suitable for young children

Whilst staying near Loch Ness, we wanted to visit somewhere that gave us a bit of knowledge about the area we were staying.
With children in tow, we were disappointed that Nessieland wasn't open, bit decided to try the Exhibition centre instead.
To be fair, we did learn a bit about the Loch etc, but the videos are too long to keep the attention of a 5yr old. We were really proud how long he tolerated each room, listening to a video he lost interest in.
Each room tells you a little about each different area (Nessie, exhibitions, how the Loch was formed etc) but you can hear the previous room's video even as your video is starting which is a little distracting.
If I'm honest, we could have watched the videos on YouTube and saved ourselves some money, but it was fun for the 40 minutes we were in there.
The lady in the shop at the end was really lovely though!

Not what I expected
Oct 2020 • Couples
I assumed that this would be more of an exhibition in the traditional sense of lots of reading material and objects on display. This is not what this is. You walk through various rooms which show films about Loch Ness, about the various supposed Nessie sightings and then through the various ways in which the loch has been explored scientifically to pretty much debunk the Nessie theory.
It’s interesting but after a while I tired of watching the films and I really don’t think kids would retain excitement about this site at all.
There was a small room with some printed information at the end of the endless rooms of films but it wasn’t that exciting. This is okay if you need a hour inside on a rainy cold day but it’s not something that I’d recommend you must do when at the loch.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I’m pleased to hear that you enjoyed the exhibition but sorry to hear you got tired of watching our multimedia displays. Did you get to see all the original equipment we have such as submarines inflatables sonar, cameras and more? because of Covid 19 restrictions we are unable to have some of our interactive exhibits on display I’m afraid. Lots of children enjoy visiting us and we’ve had a lot of feedback on this from the children themselves but thankyou for your comments.

Ok so I expected a little more and in a modern format. The staff are great and the exhibition is informative but I have seen far better and more updated information on tv.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I’m sorry that you expected more from us, we have had to close our interactives at the moment due to Covid 19 regulations as obviously they can’t be used. Thanks for the lovely comments about the staff. The information you will have seen on the Tv will all have been done in conjunction with the centre, so we have either consulted on or taken part in the programme. We’ve found that most people like to see the real equipment used to search Loch Ness and learn about it in person rather than just watching at home.

Interesting

We visited whilst driving from Inverness to Fort William. We were there early so didn't have too much delay on entry. I think covid protocols would really impact if it had been busier. Each area has its own video presentation, but I have hearing difficulties which meant I couldn't follow all that was being said. I've since learned that if we'd mentioned this at the entrance they have printed sheets with copies of the spoken text. Worth remembering.

Thankyou for taking the time to leave us a review. I’m pleased to hear you didn’t have a delay on entering. I’m sorry to hear that you had a problem hearing the exhibition, as you mentioned if you had let the staff know they could have given you the printed sheet for those with hearing impairment, it’s always useful to let us know of any issues you may have and that allows us to help you. Please let me know if you visit again and I will give you complimentary entrance.

Went there to spot the fabled Nessie!
The Center provides a lot of information in a fun movie like presentation and is very interactive.
We then want to Dores Inn , which in on the otherside of the lake for food and some lakefront photos .
The majestic Loch Ness was calm around the sunset with a lot of ducks swimming around and quacking every time I took a photo
