A small gallery overlooking the pretty harbour of Stromness. Plenty of interesting pieces of art to look at. Went with my two children aged 8 and 9. Unfortunately, we were not made aware of the art trail activity that could have been picked up from...More

Went here and loved the exhibition of the conversations with magic stones. Loved the layout and lighting of the few stones here. My favourite was the stones behind the glass. I was confused by the reflecting exhibition. Also liked the story of Stromness over 200...More

What a great gallery - a seriously impressive collection of 20th century British art in a beautiful building, really sensitively converted. A great find. A real gem of the Orkneys.

Beautiful small gallery with a nice range of pieces and great views of the harbour. Wish we had had more time to sit peacefully and do some sketching. Particularly enjoyed the blend of older and newer pieces.

This beautiful small museum has probably the best collection of British Modernists, outside London. Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Peter Lanyon, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham. All were collected and donated by Margaret Gardiner. Alongside them in this lovely pier-side gallery are excellent works by Orcadian artists - probably...More

Every moment was great. Loved the service. The crew was helpful and very entertaining and friendly. The snorkeling at The Cook Monument was amazing.

Small local Art Museum featuring local and unique exhibitions. Appropriate size and displays for a small community. For the traveler ... public WC inside.

This gallery has fewer than 200 exhibits - enough to spend an hour or two, but not overwhelming. Housed in a beautiful building, it displays works by Orkney artists and many of their well-known friends, collaborators and colleagues, such as Barbara Hepworth. A worthwhile visit.

We were staying next door and walked past for 5 days before venturing inside. What a revelation. Instead of a few local scenes and a gift shop, we found a stunning collection of mostly 20th century British art. Lots of Hepworth, Nicholson and Wallis as...More
