About
Located on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Forres lies Benromach Distillery. From a small and almost lost distillery emerged a single malt withdistinctive qualities reflecting its hand made credentials as well as encapsulating the self-reliance, sophistication and modern values of Scotland today.Established in 1898, the distillery experienced many closures and changes in ownership prior to 1993, when malt whisky specialists, Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. Following an extensive reinstallation project, embracing the distillery's original character, Benromach was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998.Just three experienced distillers create Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach Distillery for many years.

Benromach discovery
Mar 2020
All the distilleries do not look alike, but use the same processes while producing whisky. Visiting distilleries one by one what would we expect in sense of some news or impressions? Except tasting - of course - as this part of every tour used to be very individual.
On Benromach distillery our tour guide Alec has managed to make us keep our mouths open from the very beginning and till the tasting itself. If one wants to know:
• What may cause a tour guide’s heart attack?
• If it would be possible to break a nose on a distillery tour?
• Is there any expert for flowers among the distillery employees?
• What does a wife feel if she loses her husband at the distillery?
• Why is the destiny of the whisky casks so poor?
- there is only one way - to visit the Benromach distillery.
On tasting the samples of Benromach whisky Alec would give you some more revelations let alone the valuable drams of uisge beatha.
And the distillery shop appeared to be as good as the tour itself.

Nice tasting room and friendly staff
Feb 2020
We had originally planned to tour the distillery but due to a weather delay had to settle for just a short visit to the tasting room. The staff was very friendly and the scotch was great. They don't have a huge variety available to sample, but enough to get a feel for what they do and as always, the quality is excellent. I hope to do the tour next time around. Worth the stop!

Great tour
Feb 2020
Had fab tour from Kelly, really interesting and engaging. Was our first scotch distillery tour, and a great start to our holiday! Not sure if we would take the tour again, but definitely swing by the tasting room for an update if we pass through another time :)

Enjoyed a trip to the distillery in Speyside. Although a small company compared to some of the breweries I have visited around Europe it was interesting and entertaining.
Well worth a visit.
If gin does not appeal to you, try the whisky tasting experience instead, I plan to one day soon.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The premises clean and comfortable

Traditional distillery. Loved it.

Visited this distillery recently and really enjoyed the tour. Pat was the guide and he was really informative. He has a great knowledge of the distillery and the process. Had a great wee chat with Kelly, the gin lady!! lol. I was really surprised by the size of the distillery. I was expecting something a lot bigger. Love the fact that it’s all authentic, traditional skills carried out by enthusiastic, dedicated staff. Keep up the good work. Thanks again, Pat.

On a Rabbie's Whisky Tour and One of the Best Distilleries we visited
Oct 2019
On a Rabbie's Whisky Tour and this was out first stop of the day. Alec, our tour guide, was witty, had great stories, and truly knew the whiskies produced at this distillery. The tastings were a proper dram (not the case at other distilleries we visited) and Alec told us the history of each one, what made them unique, and how they complemented the Benromach line of whiskies. And there are other whiskies made here that you can taste for a fee. This is "old school" true Speyside whisky. A must on any whiskey tour of Scotland.

Fantastic Day Out
Nov 2019
We visited Benromach this morning for the 10.30am gin tour with Susan - very informal, which we liked, and informative!! Red Door Gin is one of our favourite gins so it was nice to try both the standard and the winter gin! Getting to see and smell the botanicals at the start is a great touch too!
After the gin tour, Chris took us to see the whisky side of Benromach! As we have been to several distilleries, Chris made the tour into a whisky conversation and we had a lovely relaxed chat during the tasting too.
A huge thank you to Susan & Chris - we thoroughly enjoyed the experiences!

Old school Speyside.
Sep 2019
The distillery was started in 1898 and after a stop-start, checked career it was brought back to life by a Speyside family who basically retrofitted it to make whisky the traditional way. This is not your average Speyside Whisky with everything being hand processed and aged in different types of barrels so you truly have an old school stellar Speyside whisky! We arrived late in the day but the boys in the tasting room were only too happy to tell us about Benromach and its products. After a tasting we bought 3 bottles - Benromach 10 year, Benromach 15 year, and the Sassicaia! Highly recommended.
