Located on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Forres lies Benromach Distillery. From a small and almost lost distillery emerged a single malt withdistinctive qualities reflecting its hand made credentials as well as encapsulating the self-reliance, sophistication and modern values of Scotland today.Established in 1898, the distillery experienced many closures and changes in ownership prior to 1993, when malt whisky specialists, Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. Following an extensive reinstallation project, embracing the distillery's original character, Benromach was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998.Just three experienced distillers create Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach Distillery for many years.

I wanted to visit a unique distillery in Scotland and after trying their whisky, I chose Benromach. Everyone there was so incredibly friendly and passionate about the whisky, I am really happy I chose them over a larger more mainstream distillery. The tour was fantastic, so informative and interesting and then the tasting was a highlight. Really exceptional whisky made... More

We had never been on a distillery tour before and as we were staying in Nairn, this was accessible for us. So glad we did. Visiting out of season, no queue and so much more personal. We 'toured' the site with the very knowledgeable and friendly Annabelle, and a couple from The Netherlands and a family from Essex. Although the... More

Tour was about an hour. Not part of big conglomerate so this distillery was very different from he other one we saw (Blair Athol in Pitlochry). Both were very interesting and recommended.

We visited in November, out of season. As the two of us were the only ones on the tour I expected a brief run around and little interest; the complete opposite was the case. Our guide was interesting, informative and quickly ascertained our level of knowledge in order to pitch his tour details. (We were even greeted by him at... More

I visited the distillery in November having been visiting Lossiemouth for the Remembrance service. Having visited a lot of the bigger distilleries I was not sure what to expect from Benromach. Well where do I start? There were only three people on the tour I was on, it started with a small film informing us of the history of the... More

Popped in on a cycle ride around Forres and was very pleased with the reception I received. I didn't have time for the full tour but did have a chat with one of the staff who was very helpful and assisted me with my selection. Ended up very pleased with my purchase of 3 miniatures and 70cl bottle of Benromach... More

I have been on the distillery tour twice a few years apart. On the second tour the distillery has incorporated a welcome video with the history of the company, which was a nice touch. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and welcome questions. It is a very small distillery however they are very hands on and it is fascinating... More

This a small distillery in Forres just off the main road East from Inverness. It is owned by a well known Elgin-based retailer and whisky specialist, Gordon and McPhail. Informative tour with film presentation at start and tasting at end. One of very few producers (possibly two) of organically certified Scotch malt whiskies. Small batch production so range of styles... More
