Hugely enjoyable golf, splendid clubhouse and warm welcome await at Crail Golfing Society. Founded in 1786 and the seventh oldest golf club in the world, it celebrated its 225th anniversary in 2011. The club has two courses: Balcomie Links, a unique, traditional links laid out by Old Tom Morris, and Craighead Links, a challenging links experience designed by 2009 Golf Course Architect of the Year Gil Hanse.

Fabulous location and great, historic course so different to modern layouts. Also a big thank you to Elaine who retrieved my jacket and posted in back to me after I left it behind.

I have looked forward to visiting Crail for some time and have to say it was worth the wait. As organiser my dealings with the club professionals and secretary were excellent with a friendly and welcoming attitude. We played Craig Head off the white tees...More

When it comes to Balcomie Links, Crail then it's quite a work of fiction as regards the history of the golf course. The club will tell you it dates from 1786 but in actual fact the course didn't exist before 1856 and back then it...More

We are very aware of the confusion that exists between the age of the club (1786) and the age of Balcomie Links and (officially opened by Old Tom Morris in 1895). We try and highlight this on our website, on our history boards in the...More

Played 18 holes on the Craighead course on Monday 21st August, weather excellent , course was in good condition, one only criticism was that most of our party found the greens a bit on the "hairy" side. Apart from that throughly enjoyed the golf Tuesday...More

Balcomie is the 7th oldest golf course in the world but it is beautiful. The clubhouse is well appointed and the bar and food prices mean that you won't want to go anywhere else at the end of your round. The quality of the food...More

Crail boasts the 7th oldest golf course in the world. It has two courses one of which is much younger, and is apparently of a "championship" design. I played 9 holes on this course. It was a fantastic experience. The course was stunning and definitely...More

This is the 7th oldest golf coarse. Traveling with friends from the US, the guys were looking to play a round. St. Andrews courses were to pricey. Found this course after meeting the pro while sight seeing by chance. He was so gracious and friendly....More

We were there last Autumn and got 'cheaper' rates for a group of 10 out of season. Rates may have changed for 2015. So, I agree that you look on website. I just had a 'pull' trolley. I am 76 and had no problem. IF... More
