Booked the haybarn for a tea party with family and friends. Staff were so friendly and flexible with whatever we needed. Families had a great time in the grounds (adventure play park, water play, maze, and just a lovely location) and party food was lovely too.

We visited Dumfries House gardens on a short stay in New Cumnock, what a wonderful experience, the gardens are a real treat with plenty of different areas to wander through, it is a must to visit here and the access to the gardens is free, get your walking boots on and go!

I visit often as I live only 20 minutes away. The most fantastic house and grounds. The walled garden is just amazing...something different to see at every visit. Everything is just immaculate and so well presented. The Duchess of Rothesay Avenue is just awesome at the moment.....250,000 daffodils lining the driveway...didn't manage to count them!!! No matter what time of... More

We booked a tour around the house. It is advisable to book in advance if possible as it can be very busy, especially at weekends. The tour was excellent. We sat down and watched a DVD introduction from Prince Charles, and then our guide took us around the various rooms, giving us a history of the building and explaining each... More

Two days at this fantastic heritage site was unforgettable. Beautifully preserved mansion, with much of the original furniture, lovely grounds, walled garden, kids play area, good cafe, great restaurant and amazing welcoming staff and volunteers. And dozens of happy dogs being thoroughly walked. Not to be missed. We overnighted at the Estate Lodge, my room was done out in tweed... More

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Dumfries House Lodge is an amazing Guest House with 5 star rated rooms and it's own Trip Advisor listing. Taking a 2-day visit to the Estate with a night in the Lodge to relax, creates an excellent opportunity to explore the grounds or take in the House Tour without being rushed, as... More

Visited today with overseas visitors and undertook the house tour. We were all amazed by the house and all of the belongings. The DH team have done a great job renovating the house and we were all awed by the interior. We also visited the coach house cafe, good food at a good price. Didn't get the chance to visit... More

I was told last year by my sister this was an excellent visit if I ever had the opportunity. She was not wrong! The elegance of the grounds and the high quality of every building renovation was clear to see, including some lovely woodland features and a wealth of enormous trees and thousands of daffodils! The cafe was reasonably priced,... More

Visited here on Tuesday and although the weather was not great we had a lovely time. The grounds are fantastic and plenty to do for the kids. Will visit again when the weather is better and hopefully manage a tour of the house as well. Tea room was lovely and all the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

We go here quite often - living locally, and our recent visit was a walk through the grounds. A new cafe has opened so we had a look and it is up to the usual high standard we have come to expect at Dumfries House. Every time we visit something else has been restored / renovated or opened. To wander... More
