To be honest, we came here as adults, just to see the model railways, but thought we would go on everything else anyway. This is an excellent attraction for children. Dare I say it, better than a more famous one on the south coast. :-) What really made our day was the staff, who were all cheerful, friendly and helpful.... More

We went with our four grandchildren children, aged 2 to 5, their 2 mother's (our daughters) and a son in law. We arrived at opening time of 10.30, and dragged ourselves away at 4pm. There are two railways - a miniature and a narrow gauge. The latter was hauled by Rebecca, a 105 year old German locomotive, brought to Devon... More

We have been many times last year and have now purchased a annual pass for this year. This is old school, amateur, friendly, passionate entertainment at its finest. The staff are friendly, the place is clean, the trains and the stories behind them in the museum are interesting. The owners obviously have a passion for what they do and how... More

return visit to devon railway centre. It was still as good as first time. This time we took our advice and brought a picnic. Site was lovely spent over 4 hours there and grandchildren could not get enough of trains. What is impressive is that all the models have been painted and look fresh for the start of the season.

What a lovely review! Thank you. I am so pleased that you felt the Railway Centre is still as good as it was on your first visit. It's great when our visitors recognise the hard work that goes on during the Winter and thank you for commenting on this. We look forward to welcoming you and your grandchildren again! More

We visited with a 8 and 7 year old. To be honest I think this place is more suited to children younger than this, our two got a tad restless after an hour or so. Slow train rides, lots of model village exhibits which were nice. The indoor play area was really for younger, smaller children. Cheap enough, but definitely... More

Thank you for your review. We do aim some of our activities at our younger visitors but we consider we offer other attractions for older members of the family. Our model railways, model village and museum offer something for everyone, depending on personal interests in railways. Our narrow gauge train ride gives visitors an experience of industrial locomotives in action,... More

Unlimited rides on the little trains plus model railways and other railway related information which would be of interest to older train buffs. All of our grandchildren have enjoyed going there and waving the trains off with the guard's flag. Indoor play area in case it is wet. Once you have paid the entrance fee there is no more to... Thanks for your review and I am delighted that all of your grandchildren have enjoyed their time here. Our picnic area, as you say is in a lovely spot alongside the river and it is possible to spot the odd heron, kingfisher and otters there. We look forward to seeing you again soon! More

Great for train enthusiasts of all ages. Good cafe for lunch, but plenty of picnic space, also soft play, crazy golf, outdoor play areas, as well as lots of trains to ride on or look at.

Visited with our 3 year old son from Bristol and the drive was worth it when our sons eyes lit up! Great value for money considering it's unlimited rides on the big and small trains, access to the play areas and freedom to play in the indoor play room which was my sons favourite especially the toy wooden train tracks....
