As usual the staff at NT places are welcoming and knowledgeable about the place they are in. The grounds and the house were amazingly well kept. There was plenty to see and large grounds to walk or picnic in.

This place is wonderful to visit particularly in the spring time when all the bluebells and maples, rhododendron and azaleas are out in full bloom. Don't go at weekends as the parking is not good. There are really good walks around the parks and the walled garden is good but even better in summer. Food is good in the restaurant and... More

We spent a lovely three hours here. The gardens are absolutely stunning and the house very interesting. Always good to know the history of these houses. Very narrow road to get to it though!

We popped in for a quick wander on a Sunday afternoon and left ten minutes later wishing we'd just stopped in a lay by! The car park is a joke! Badly designed with cars slipping and sliding on the gravel and steep banks. Hardly enough room for cars to pass each other as they negotiate the tight bends. The place... More

The house and gardens are stunning and certainly worth a visit or several but the cafe was so bad I don't know where to begin . The coffee was cold and stewed as it had been standing on the hot plate for a while I would imagine and the scone was so stale we sent it back immediately and it... More

We came here thirty odd years ago, when we only wandered in the gardens. This time we went through the house as well. The room guides were really interesting and informative, and explained a lot about the history of the place, reinforced by the introductory video. The gardens are a very pleasant stroll as well.

Knightshayes is an imposing mock gothic house which sits above the small town of Tiverton. The house was built in 1869 by Sir John Heathcoat Amory - the lacemaking magnate - and is a clear display of the wealth his endeavours brought to his family. The cafe shop and garden shop are part of the former stables and produce from... More

Dogs not allowed in the gardens or cafe and yet in similar NT properties (e.g. In Collaton Fishacre & Greenway and in other parts of the country) they are. When I've spoken with management from the dog friendly NTs, they said that they were encouraged to let dogs have more access by their volunteers and when they tried it they... More

Had a Marvellous day out at Knights Hayes Court. Visited the House, formal gardens and vegetable gardens. Lunch in the stables, tea on the terrace. Came back with a rhubarb forced, the way one does! Will visit again to see the changing seasons.
