Agree with earlier review - fabulous place, great trail for bikes/walks but ferry man really unpleasant and spoilt our day out.

Spent several days cycling on the trail, and was delighted with the facility, which is clearly well used. It was well maintained on the section we used, and the signposting fairly clear to follow. A great resource for visitors and locals alike, particularly for the former to explore the area.

Started the day lugging bike over railway bridge and steps down to ferry. Quite exhausting and felt hypoglycaemic. Took out a small snack bar to eat and promptly got shouted at by John, the owner running the boat, who promptly went into a rant over having to clean up after people eating on the boat, pointing out a partially obscured... We had a really wonderful trip. We started at Exmouth and caught the ferry from Exmouth to Starcross. The Exmouth ferry was brilliant and the staff so welcoming and good value. We proceeded to walk up to Turf Locks. As it was a Sunday the hotel was very busy - looked lovely - so we decided to take the ferry... More

We started our walk from Starcross and ended up in Countess Wear just outside Exeter. This was a lovely family walk my son who's only 9 years old enjoyed it but was tried by the end of the 7 miles. The scenery is fantastic over looking the habour and the train line. We would have walked further but it had... More

We walked down from Topsham to Exmouth and back. It's quite an easy, level walk with lots of pretty, changing scenery en-route. We had lunch by the seafront in Exmouth but if you didn't want to go that far there were other pubs along the way. Very pretty and enjoyable.

Nice walking, mainly on the level which suits us now we are in our seventies. Plenty of views, plenty of drop off spots and in places good travel facilities to return to your starting point. Well recommended. Just the problem of some cyclist who dont appreciate the track is to share, and some of us old git's are deaf but... More

Along the Exmouth side of the River Exe there is a tarmacked path quite wide, cycle's as well as walkers use this path for work as well as pleasure, the views are stunning and in the Autumn full of Blackberries, I have only walked as far as Lympstone Commando base but it is well worth the trouble.
