We pre-booked (this seems to be essential) a River Exe Guided Bird Watching Cruise a couple of months ago and this took place last Saturday, An excellent trip for birders and those interested in the natural world. The on-board commentator Ian was excellent and clearly passionate about birds and the area. We spotted plenty of species including avocets, golden plover,... More

The trip on a sunday afternoon was very entertaining the skipper on the boat was very knowledgable and very funny, the trip lasted about an hour and a half , the price of £6-50 was good value, we had free tea or coffee and there is also a bar as well, if you are down that way give it a... More

We have been on Stuart Line cruises before, but as this was a winter trip we were not too sure of what we might experience. We needn't have worried! Booking on line was easy for the afternoon river trip. We chose to sit inside and were quite comfortable despite the boat being probably full. We could hear the informative commentary... More

Even for people with mobility problems, this was a very enjoyable trip. There was an easy accessible ramp to get on board and plenty of seating. We were given a free drink by Ian who must have had asbestos hands to bring all those drinks to us all so quickly! The commentary was very good, very interesting and was all... More

This was bought as a gift and although it seemed god value for money I wasn't too sure about how thje afternoon etc would pan ut - I should not have worried. Helpful, cheerful crew on the boat, excellent facilities and a well stocked snack shop with beverages to suit everyone. The preordered pasties were 'proper' piping hot and with... More

As someone who just has to have their annual bird-watching andrenolin rush on the Exe, the Bird watching trip from Exmouth to Topsham is a must for my annual bucket list. And 25th January 2017 was no disappointment. Mergansers seemed to be getting closer to the boat, Shags and Cormorants could be compared close-up, golden green and grey plovers abounded,... More

Thank you David for your wonderful review. Wow, you did get a bird packed trip.We are so lucky to have such a top wildlife river here in Exmouth. The winter migrants are so abundant it wears you out trying to keep up with them. Sorry you didn't get a pasty, it's something we introduced recently & they are extremely popular... More

I really recommend doing the 'Sail with Santa' trip they offer during December and to book early as it gets full quickly! You are welcomed on board by the very friendly crew and offered mulled wine - if you don't like it there is also tea, coffee and squash on offer included or you can but a drink from the... More

Thank you Alison for your lovely review of our Sail with Santa special. Santa was really pleased that you came again, he mentioned how fast the children grow up! I think the crew enjoy these trips as much as the children. You have described the trip so well I don't really need to add anything further except yes, book early.... More

I joined the bird watching cruse on the 29 December and it was a superb day out. There was a warm welcome and the friendly crew made you feel at home. The commentator pitched it just right with knowledgeable insights, but the real stars of course were the birds and other wildlife - we even had a special treat when... More

Thank you Mark for taking time to review your River Exe Bird Watching Cruise. We are really glad you enjoyed it. We have been running these trips for many years & you never get two trips alike. There are so many facinating birds that visit the Exe estuary every winter. With our heated saloon area you can sit in comfort... More

The best possible way to see the glories of the River Exe estuary. Very friendly crew. Most informative commentary from the Captain and a super Father Christmas trip for young kids with mulled wine for the grown ups!!

All at Stuart Line ensure everyone enjoys themselves on their trips, and the River Cruise up and down the Exe was no exception! Enjoyable even on a cloudy sunless day, the scenery never disappoints. The commentary on board is pitched at just the right level to inform and amuse. The crew, who are friendly and welcoming, obviously enjoy what they're... More
