Fascinating little museum, surprisingly large as it covers three floors of the history of Dartmoor and it's way of life. Tucked away in a Victorian courtyard off West Street, (rear entrance has parking) there are lots of activities for children (especially in the holidays) and...More

Not a huge building but has 3 floors containing a wide range of exhibits covering the ages. I found it really interesting. Also impressive were the number of areas to encourage children to get involved. For me the ground floor held most interest with a...More

Thank you for the review, however, I believe the review refers to the Dartmoor Prison Museum at Princetown rather than the Museum of Dartmoor Life which is situated in Okehampton.

I was able to ride my mini mobility scooter around this museum which has a lift. There were exhibits from the ancient to more recent. I found it very interesting. There is also a small shop selling local craft items, maps etc.

Parking nearby was a little difficult to find, but going through the arch into the courtyard is like stepping back in time. We enjoyed it, but be aware it is a little museum, not a destination in itself but nice for a visit if you...More
