The Woolly Beader (formerly rockin' beads) is the vision of Garry and Donna. It was born from our desire to be our own bosses and live in a small village in Devon. What began as a plan to open the largest bead shop in the West Country has grown into a community centred craft shop selling a wide range of jewellery making materials and quality yarn. Apart from wool and beads we also sell Murano glass rods as Donna just loves to melt glass and she delights in teaching others this amazing craft. We are known for our superb customer service and knowledge in all things beady and yarny!!! We hope that customers feel really at home in our lovely spacious shop. We run our workshops to suit our customers so one to one tuition is the norm at no extra charge.

This is a lovely shop. Really nice yarns and the owners are incredibly helpful, it's great to have something like this in Okehampton. Donna is really encouraging and I need to book a class to learn to finish my knitting projects off better. I'm not a header but discovered the beads the other day, wonderful! And so much fun. Also... This is a great shop to visit if you are in Okehampton and like knitting. They have some unusual yarns and even yarn from Dartmoor sheep. The staff are very helpful, and if you are only looking for a small project they have lots of bags with just the thing to get your fingers itching to knit.

I have just had an amazing 3 hour glass bead making workshop this week that I enjoyed so much I returned today for more intuition. Friendly, helpful and encouraging. I'm already planning my next visit. The shop has a great selection of wools, beads, craft kits, jewellery etc. I happily travel miles to my favourite craft and bead shops and... More

Good place to take little girls on a rainy day. Staff are helpful and have classes and demonstrations, only criticism was that my wife , who is a serious crafter, thought their pricing was a bit steep.

Lovely shop with knowledgeable staff and a massive range of beads and jewelry making items. Could spend hours - and a small fortune - looking at all the extensive range in stock there. They also run courses showing you how to make your own jewelry and also other courses such as knitting and crochet too.

I visited this shop recently and mentioned that I had a problem with the cord in your dotty bracelet kit that I had purchased and was prepared to purchase some more to try again. You very kindly gave me some purple leather cord and this afternoon I have successfully completed the bracelet without any problems as well as a bookmark... More

Rockin Beads is a great bead shop... But they also have wool and patterns and block printing and silver clay supplies. You want to just hang out and plan your project there and you have space to do so.. Tables are available as well as a sofa. You can learn lamp working or other skills too. I stop by often... More

I've written before and promised an update after a silver clay class. Class was excellent and I produced a great pair of silver earrings which I enamelled as well! I have since been back to their new shop in Okehampton which is a bigger, brighter place. There's now yarn and classes for crochet, knitting, etc. The owner makes her own... More

I was surprised to find this little gem of a place on a recent visit to Okehampton. Large and varied stock; helpful and knowledgeable staff who also put on teaching courses. Well worth a detour to visit if you are even remotely interested in beads.
