Despite living only a few miles away this was my first visit in thirty years. Delighted with the cleanliness of the grounds and ease of parking. Gardens are immaculate and even in the winter show some lovely signs of growth. There is a lot of work going on at the moment getting things ready for the 1018-2018 celebrations. I will... More

Visited as part of a coach tour and was not disappointed the the setting , scenery and splendour of the place. .We also had the added bonus of a young man playing the organ as we were walking around the Abbey which had a beautiful modern stained glass window. The grounds were very well kept and there is also a... More

Really nice to see and hear about some of the work that the monks and estate do. From the bee keeping to wine making to their use of hydro electric to power the whole site. It was a bitterly cold day and I was expecting the same in the Abbey, however, because they use hydro electric power they can afford... More

Buckfast is a lovely place to visit. It is not too big and is a great place to spend an hour or two. The Abbey was lovely and grounds fabulous. We took a packed lunch and ate in one of the gardens but it has a cafe and shop. We were very pleased with Buckfast Abbey. It was a pleasant... More

We visited Buckfast Abbey this month, whilst we stayed at the Headland Hotel in Torquay (see separate reviews on the brilliant hotel) The Abbey is stunning and entrance is free, the restaurant is very modern and offers a good choice of hot and cold meal and snacks. The staff see very pleasant and courteous. If you are in the area... More

Visited on Sunday 5th Feb, with 1 teenager and a 10yr old. Great big open space around the Abbey. Children could run and not be in the way. Paths are lovely big and wide. The grounds are immaculate. The Lavender garden is beautiful, regardless of the weather. The Abbey itself is very impressive. My 10 yr old was delighted by... More

It must have been one of the wettest days so far, when we visited Buckfast. So we wandered round the church and shops, stopped for midday prayers (note at 1pm!!) and had some lunch in the restaurant. It was too wet to be outside, and so we have no idea where the bees were, or if they were visible. We... More

The Abbey is well worth a visit. I would recommend taking the time to view the video of the History. The grounds are beautifully kept.
