Look and listen!

This is a wonderful amenity to have within a few minutes walk from my home but I am a Kerry woman living in close proximity to sandy beaches without steep shelving in my home town. I love this place because I have seen the most beautiful sunrises but I am not a confident swimmer and I don't like the steep shelving. One gets out of one's depth very quickly and while there are lifeguards here I still don't feel safe. That's why I am hoping they will put lifeguards at the Cove next year; less shelving, more safe and gradual sloping into the deep! You cod do the glorious and less travelled walk to Wicklow/Newcastle/Kicoole, parallel to the railway line in quiet terrain without being isolated and where you can observe the Little Terns and the quiet seasons of nature far from motorways and traffic.. just an odd train here and there... They toot if you wave madly like the railway children! This is wonderful and I love it. Thank you Greystones, Kilcoole, Newcastle, Blackditch and, finally, Wicklow. Great way to leave it all behind. Enjoy!

Easy access and close parking
Jul 2019 • Business
Super beach and easy access from nearby carpark under the railway line. Some of our party were infirm or unsteady on their feet. Wheel chairs did not have to be pushed too far but watch access to the sea, it's quite steep and you need to be fit to climb up the silty bank to get out of the waves. The wind can be chilly as the sun goes down. Well worth a visit, safe for kids but bring a wind breaker or screen.

Wonderful swimming...
May 2019 • Family
We stayed nearby for a week and visited the beach on several occasions. Swimming here is safe and clean. There are two beaches at Greystones, one sandy and one shingly. Both are clean and a joy to visit for a walk, a paddle, or a swim.

Beautiful Beach
May 2019 • Family
Easy walk from DART train station and the rest of town. Just a lovely beach. Mostly unspoiled by any development. Go there and you'll see why they call this place "Greystones".

Nice pleasant beach an even better in warm weather. No real facilities close by, but coffee shops in walking distance. Good views and great for kids

What’s the appeal?
Apr 2019 • Couples
Greystones Beach, when we visited, seemed very pedestrian and uninspired. Granted we visited on a grey, miserable day in April, yet having read the reviews believed there to be far more to this pebble beach. It’s a short walk from the High Street and and train station and received the Blue Flag award in 2018 - so there must be some appeal! - but I couldn’t see it during our short visit. Maybe it’s a beach better enjoyed when the weather is not so inclement, but there didn’t seem to be a striking element which might draw me back. Greystones generally appeared to be a lovely place.

Beach therapy

Love going to this beach it offers everything you might want. A stretch of sand made for an invigorating walk, if you feel energetic you can walk on to Kilcoole. On a warm day swimming and chilling is a wonderful way to spend a few hours. And onther times just to sit and listen to the waves crashing on to the pebbles as they make their way to the shore
and watch the changing colours and moods of the mighty Atlantic.
Trainers are advisable as some of the beach is pebbly.

Very good beach - without sand
Dec 2018 • Family
Yes, this is a beautiful beach without sand. You would not find sand here, just the shells and small pebbles of different colours and that makes this beach standout from all other beaches. When the waves recede, it creates a special sound as pebbles rub past each other. Possibly I heard such kind of natural musical sound on a beach for the first time.

I do not know why is there no sand but only the pebbles and shells, but it is beautiful, nearly blackish in colour. Those who have visited Kamari beach in Santorini (Greece) can understand how it looks like.

It has super-easy access as there is a train station of Greystone just behind the beach. Once you cross the station, the whole town unfolds before you. A number of eateries and a number of activities await you. A number of beautiful golf courses are also around. Parking should not be a problem here - there are ample spaces for paid parking.

If you are visiting Dublin and have some time, do visit this place.

Absolutely beautiful

Gorgeous sand, plenty of space when it’s busy, plenty of local activities for small kids, plenty of coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance, and decent parking.
