A very expensive walk! The cost of entry was very expensive at €24 for 2 adults and 2 children. €18 extra to do the house tour!!

Effectively what you are paying for is access to the grounds of the house for a walk...basic playground and coffee shop.. expensive also and under staffed!!

The website is very misleading. We spent over €150 for 6 adults and 2 children. The whole thing lasted about 30 minutes and the lights themselves were very poor. The children were both left very disappointed. At the end of the "experience" you arrive at the amusements section where there are only 2 merry-go-round type rides. There is also a place to "hook a duck" with a fishing rod. One of the guys played (one go is €4) and got a squishy ball. The teenagers "manning" these activities were vaping in front of the children. Overall, not really Christmassy and if ever you heard your mam or dad say "that's very Irish", this is defo a very appropriate label for this "experience". An absolute rip off and does not look at all like the magical experience portrayed on the website.

Went to the land of light show. Its fine but certainly not a spectacular as promised. Alot of standard christmas decorations put at various intervals through the woods, Some kids standing around with extra tricks and other just colour lights lighting up the wood walk way. Bit pricey for E80 for 3 kids and 2 adults. Finishes off with a very cramped fair. No social distancing. Should be spread out more. TBH we went instead of the zoo lights which are a different level. Don't go if this is what you are expecting.

My sister and I were staying in the Wooden bridge Hotel in Co Wicklow on the 26 and 27th of oct 2021 and looked up places online to go and see as the weather was appalling. We came across the website for Wells House and gardens and it stated that it was open. We purchased the tickets online for €16 and drive 30 mins to Ballyedmond. When we got there we noticed that the car park was empty and the house looked closed so we found the visitors centre and asked the lady when the tour started. She informed me the house was closed due to covid and I told her I had just bought tickets online as their website said it was open. She said I couldn't possibly have bought them online as the house wasn't open and that we actually paid €16 to enter the grounds only. How she thought we would pay that to walk about in torrential rain I don't know. I sent them an angry email explaining that it should be stated on their website that the house is closed and that your only paying to enter the grounds but I've yet to get a reply. So if anyone is going to wells house for a tour it's closed unless you want to spend €16 to enter the grounds only.

We have been to Wells House & Gardens many times over the years & always come back when in the area. On this occasion when we were closeby I rang in advance to check the restaurant/cafe was open for lunch as the food is good (at least it used to be!) I was informed by an employee that it was open but there was a new payment system - long story short - it would now cost us 9euros each just to enter. All we wanted to do was have lunch - not visit the garden on a really wet Tuesday (it was lashing rain most of that day!) or anything else in the estate as we had covered all of this on several previous visits. So basically they were asking us to pay an extra 18euros for the two of us just to park the car for about 1 hour & have lunch in the restaurant (another payment for this too of course!!) The excuse we were given was the cafe was 'on site' - what difference does that make!? Most country houses/estates have restaurants 'on site' & they don't have this absurd system ....so this leads me to my point - there seems to be no other option but to purchase a ticket to see everything past the gates.....but we just wanted to buy lunch! Our guess is they were left with any food they prepared on that day, as who'd even consider having a walk in the grounds on a very wet, dull midweek day that felt more like winter than autumn & pay 9euros per person for the privilege? There's a very good option for local people as they can buy an annual ticket at a very reasonable rate, so why not have options for the occasional visitors like ourselves (& many others I have no doubt) otherwise, the restaurant in particular will be losing quite a lot of business as people will stop coming, especially if they have to pay for the whole family. So, for people who would support the restaurant is there going to be an option or are we expected to pay for something we choose not to do but at the moment are expected to pay for? Needless to say we went elsewhere!

A lovely hidden gem. Staff were warm and welcoming. The statue filled trails were mezmerizing. The park kept the kids going for ages. Easily filled three hours and could have stayed longer.
