The castle was built in the 13th century, possibly by William, Earl Marshall. Originally, the castle formed a square, with large corner towers. Only half of the castle now remains.

We really loved this tour! Knowledgeable and friendly guide, amazing ruins! Our clan has a tie to the history so that made it even richer, but I think the experience would be enjoyable by anyone.
