I like this place and decided to review it after 3 visits. Once for a music gig and the orders were drop in Saturday night drinks. They place is really nice, the atmosphere is great, I would recommended it to anyone who is around County Laois or out for a drink in Portlaoise town.

Kavanaghs located in Portlaoise town centre is a great bar , serves excellent draught lager with a great selection , great outside areas hosting a wide range of live bands . Also , there is lovely seating area on the street that captures any sun that we get in the midlands .

This is a lovely family run bar with a great out door area that holds all different types of bands and entertainment.. great for the footie and a spot of lunch..you will alwsys find a friendly face to chat with...All the staff are very welcoming and friendly..if your in portlaoise then you must call in here x

I am a local person whom enjoys live music and would regularly go to this pub, however on Friday night approx 11pm I went into the toilets but left very quickly. There are only two toilets to service this bar and not for the first time they are a disgrace. There always seems to be a lot of staff on in this venue so how come the toilets are not checked and cleared. There was toilet paper everywhere, bins overflowing and taps left running. The sink area was filthy. The management need to address this problem and fast. Not so long ago I reported to the staff there were broken glasses at the sink area. I'm not in a hurry to return to this venue at all.

Went to see a show here last night. It was a disaster, it was in the smoking room which was freezing cold, it was appalling to put people in there in Feb in the cold. We left the show at half time, very disappointed, will never go there again. How to expect people to sit at a show is disgraceful in such weather and not even comfortable seating!!!

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your visit. Due to the cost of staging the show it had to be held in our larger courtyard venue so we could bring the show to town.
Unfortunately our Courtyard Venue is not yet finished to the same standard as our other venues. The weather was also less than kind on the night.

If it's music you want I suggest visit.from the best bands to comedians they have it all..great smoking area out the back where they have great bands playing..to a lovely function room upstairs for private parties or great music such as Damien Dempsey James Oconnor or some of the best comedians .this is the place to visit for those who want a good night and good music

Have had the pleasure of visiting this venue several times this year, it's no surprise big acts add this venue to their dates! Everything a pub should be and more, great night guaranteed, I will definitely be returning! Becky Dublin

Nice bar good pints and service is good. We called in during a premiership match and it was packed but service was quick and had a great atmosphere.

I often go to kavanaghs for nights out, private occasions upstairs, too see acts, etc., and have to say I am rarely disappointed. The pub is clean and cosy with polite and friendly staff. In addition there is a great venue upstairs to host parties. The bar upatairs doesn't have a great selection of drinks but is a beautifully decorated and spacious area. The beer garden is quite basic and unglamorous but fulfils its purpose. There are plenty of seats to accomodate shows and a handy little bar too. I'd recommend a night out in Kavanaghs when there is an act performing or a good match on as there is usually a great crowd and atmosphere to help make your night a great one!

Ive been to many bars while traveling around the Globe but none as fine as Kavanaghs.
Its a great Bar with a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff that make you feel right at home! I would highly recommend this Pub to anyone wanting to go out for a nice relaxing pint or to see one of the many fine Music or Comedy Gigs that are on at the upstairs or just out for craic . Oh and not forgetting the wide range of Craft beers available on Draft including the Local Laois beer 12 Acres .. Pure Class Bar... I will be back ;) Enjoy
