Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So charming and beautiful! We stayed in the studio and with the sunshine we felt we where in the south of France. We are at the restaurant once for dinner and once for breakfast and enjoyed both. The staff for the most part were very friendly. We loved our stay here and loved that it’s dog friendly.

Lovely grounds and loved the decor
Food was delicious, a little overpriced for the shared platter
Some staff need training
Service slow
Asked if we wanted dessert before we had our mains
Wasn't asked if wanted wine or any drinks after our initial drinks upon arrival. Had to ask for everything
Gap of 4 to 5 mins between both mains arriving and no cutlery
If staff given proper training it should bring it to a 4 and maybe 5 star review

We went for lunch to the green barn restaurant as we were given a voucher, and we were excited to use it. We have never been so dissatisfied and disappointed. We ordered a burger and a chargrilled chicken. The burger bun was stale, a few days old, hard and rubbery to eat.The chicken was dry and over cooked, and was chewy to eat. It could have been cooked a previous day by the taste of it. The burger was served on a bread board. In 2022 who is seriously still using bread boards instead of plates. Bread boards can breed bacteria. Disappointed we won’t be back. Thank god we had a voucher , even still the food was over priced and we still had to spend money on top.

I stayed on a yoga retreat. Such a beautiful setting and so welcoming. The staff in the restaurant were absolutely charming and the food was wonderful. Joanna and James are welcoming and charming hosts. I could not recommend enough for a visit to the restaurant or stay in the holiday accommodation.

Front of house staff were extremely rude. It's a very basic thing to be friendly and welcoming but not here...

A few family members called to Burton Gardens today for the first time at about 11.30am. Asked the staff there for tea and cake. Was informed fairly bluntly that the tables were booked as it was fathers day and we would have to eat outside. Even though they were alot of them empty we didn't have a problem with this. We were told the morning menu was over and we could not order form this and would have to wait or take something from the deli. We explained we were just looking for teas and a few slices of cake. Staff insisted to take food from the deli. The only dessert was a fruit tartlet. My first visit there, did not feel welcomed by the staff. They were so unhelpful so we left. Will not go back. Gave two stars because the decor was nice.

I can't believe they have the nerve to charge EUR 8 to walk around a small dreary field. I decided to visit after seeing it featured on RTEs Nationwide programme a while ago, but I was so disappointed. I'm sure some of the gardens are nice but unfortunately they are all closed off to the paying visitors. There are signs everywhere saying private, no entry so what you are allowed walk around is a small field with a few daffodils in one corner. There's also what they call a " sculpture park," which is very neglected looking, a few of the signs for the sculptures had fallen off and were just left lying on the ground. I didn't bother eating in the restaurant as when I enquired about what time they opened until I got a very cold, curt reply ",if you're thinking of eating you'd want to book now, we're nearly full up" the place was empty. Overall I found the whole experience so disappointing, it's one of those places that seems to think they're doing you a big favour even letting you through the door. A complete rip off.

I have never left a review but today I felt I had to. We visited Burtown House in July 2021 and loved the gardens but weren’t able to eat there as we hadn’t booked. We said we’d love to come back on a special occasion and eat there. So today myself, my husband and our two mums made the trip for Mother’s Day. When we arrived we were greeted with a very cold general manager and told there were changes to the menu. Those changes were that the menu was reduced by half due a staffing issue. We’d travelled nearly an hour (three of us don’t eat meat) and I really feel we should have been told about this before we got there. I understand that businesses are struggling to get back on their feet but this was just a bit of a disappointment for us when we had such high hopes. I love the ethos of Burtown but I don’t think we’ll be back unfortunately.

Gardens and food can't be faulted.
Stayed in the studio Apartment, and very disappointed. Very Dusty and unclean, no cutlery, no bottled water, No WiFi, broken coffee machine in room, no blinds on some windows, it's a pity as the location is beautiful, it was just such a let down for the money you pay.
