Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very elegant statue in the square of Athy just outside the heritage centre which houses an exhibition on the Antarxtic explorer
The statue is well worth a photo stop but don't miss the museum as its superb.

It's great to see this man - and others alongside him, being respected and honoured in this way. Well worth a visit, along with a trip to the museum very nearby. KEVIN KENNY was a joy to listen to and boy, does he know his history! Nice to see in the Museum, a WW1 Book of Honour of local people who lost their lives in WW1, also remembred. Great history and told so well. ENJOY!

This statue is a new addition to the square, it was unveiled exactly 100 years since he rescued the crew of his ship, Endurance, from Elephant island in the Antarctic. The statue, cast in bronze, by sculptor Mark Richards, was unveiled by his grand-daughter Alexandra Shackleton and is located to the side of the Heritage Centre which features a permanent Shackleton display. As an aside, there is another memorial adjacent that commemorates the 50th anniversary of Macra Na Feirme, an Irish voluntary rural youth organisation founded in 1944; this memorial is in the form of a sundial.
