Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great beach and sea swimming. But beware no lifeguard and poor road access for volume of traffic trying to get down narrow single track access road to what is free car park. I fear there will be an incident such that emergency services will be unable to attend by road. Such may become a potentially tragic incident. The other beach nearby at Gorteen has similar access issue. Thus avoid.both at busy times. A visit in Winter will do me !

Probably a lovely beach but virtually no parking. We had to reverse the whole way back up a long lane to get out. And this was midweek. Would imagine it's very busy at peak times. Would like to return sometime to actually see the beach!

We have been to Dog's Bay on occasions too numerous to count. Every single time we are overwhelmed by its beauty. The long stretch of golden fine sand looks out on a horseshoe shaped bay with a backdrop of dramatic mountainous landscape. Get to the end of the beach and leave the sand behind - a short walk up a little sandy path leads you out on to the peninsula proper - acres upon acres of open grazing land, filled with cows gently gazing at you as you stroll past, a blanket of tiny purple and yellow alpine flowers underfoot. The very end of the peninsula - a good half hour walk, is a scattering of Atlantic battered rocky outcrops - even on a warm summer's day you'll be greeted by a bracing breeze whipping in off the ocean. Sit still long enough and you'll see long ears popping up - there are an abundance of wild hares living on Dog's Bay. It's a truly magical place to visit.

We discovered this beach at the end of our day driving the Wild Atlantic way. In hindsight, we should have driven straight here and just hanged out at the beach.

We arrived here without any beach gear (swim suits, towels etc), but it didn't matter. We were just happy to walk or sit on the gorgeous white sandy beach, play in the crystal clear water and admire the beauty of the landscape. We had only allowed ourselves an hour here, next time we'll make sure that we can spend most of the day to relax at the beach.

Visited this lovely beach with our family in July . The beach is spotless and the sea so clean . We arrived at around 10.30 and had the beach to ourselves around noon it became a little busier. Spectacular place on a very warm summer’s day . Well worth a visit .

Dog's Bay Beach is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland. Although we visited in April when the the weather was very windy and cold it has a breathtaking atmosphere. The sand is almost white and very soft and fine. The sea was staggeringly icy cold and crystal clear. I did not see one piece of litter. This visit was as good as any spa experience! Relaxing, peaceful, rugged and fresh. Good for blowing away the cobwebs, calming the mind and walking off all the soda bread!! A few people about, but almost deserted at times. Wonderful!

Visit this beach on a sunny day and you will think you're in paradise. Clean clear water and white sand. The small headland has two white beaches, back to back, and you can see both from the road above. Beautiful.

As a Floridian, this beach astounded me. We visited the beach, accidentally, on the busiest Irish bank holiday weekend. Yet, the beaches were still nowhere near the level of congestion we see in Florida. The scene is surreal, as the mountains tower behind you, while Caribbean blue waters (frigid blue waters to us Floridians) and white sand curve around a bay.

For those that want to stretch their legs and do some exploring, I encourage stopping off at this beach! We strolled along the beach for a half-hour, and then walked for over an hour along trails others had carved out through the rocks in the distance. We uncovered several mini-beaches that we could sit and relax, with no people in sight. Our bed and breakfast owner emphasized that all the land in this mini-peninsula between the two beaches are public lands, so feel free to explore. But, be aware these are rare and precious dunes, so watch where you step and try to follow the paths so as not to disturb the ecosystem. :)

For those needing parking, cars were parked on both sides of the road as we walked in, so parking fees and towing did not appear to be a problem. I'd recommend parking on the hill, as it gets tight to turn a car around the closer you get to the water's edge.

There were a few carts selling food and drink on the weekend we visited, but nothing substantial in terms of full meals, just light drinks and crepes on the day we were there.

Many dogs were out here, so I assume it's dog friendly for those who are interested...
