Beautiful Bodhran. Highly recommended.
Oct 2020
I wanted a family crest Bodhran for a friend of mine and I'm delighted with how it turned out. It's perfect. For Bodhrans there is only one option in Ireland and it's RM&C. Beautiful pieces of handcrafted artwork. Malachy was very helpful. Everything was done online and responce time to emails were super fast and the finished product arrived way ahead of time. Highly recommended.

Worth the visit

Nice aul spot, lovely quirky amount of things to buy and a huge assortment of music gear. Shop has everything from books to bodhrans and a few other bits and pieces. Spoke to Malachy for a few minutes when we were paying. Nice friendly man. Will be back hopefully next time we venture down the way.

Online/Email Experience
May 2020 • Family
I was looking for a personalized coat of arms bodhran as a wedding gift for a June 2020 date. I wanted it to be from an Irish artist and location and was so happy to find Malachy back in Feb 2020. His response time via email to numerous questions was excellent, his knowledge and guidance in my purchase was also excellent. Not to mention his patience, due to the pandemic the wedding date was up in the air and Malachy kindly held off putting a date on the bodhran until we had a new date set. The finished gift looks amazing and is a work of art to be admired for years to come. We look forward to making his shop a must visit place when we eventually get home to celebrate a new wedding date of July 2021. Thank you Malachy and stay safe and healthy all.

A great experience!

A trip to Galway isn't complete without a trip to Roundstone. Visit the potter and jeweler for sure, but then spend some quality time with Malachy. I just bought my second drum and I'm thrilled to have a beautiful, handmade piece of art that happens to be a musical instrument. Malachy is a treasure who matches well with the beautiful town of Roundstone.

If there is anyone musical in your family, stop here!

Our granddaughter is interested in percussion so we stopped her to get her a bodhran, because we had read that they are handcrafted here. Malachy no only provided my wife and me with a short history of the bodhran and an analysis of the right size for her, he allowed us to tape a trio of short instruction videos on my wife's phone that show how to play the bodhran.

Amazing place/Passionate Owner
Jul 2019 • Couples
We went browsing and were pleasantly surprised with the information supplied, the quality of workmanship and above all the owner and bodhran maker Malachy. He went out of his way to inform us and even sent gifts to the disabled boy for whom we bought a bodhran. It was much appreciate back in South Africa. He even gave us wonderful advice about places to visit! An excellent experience with a caring and compassionate owner!! Highly recommended

Best shopping stop of our tour! Tons of variety and great finds.
Jul 2019
What a fun stop! We came for the traditional instrument making, which we did find. Plus, Malachy stocks a range of instruments in addition to his beautiful bodhrains - harps, other percussion, and more. His shop had so many interesting things that our visit stretched beyond what we'd planned, and I picked up great keepsakes and gifts for those back home...guitar picks with Celtic designs for my nephew, a turf incense burner set for Mom, seaweed sea salt for the SIL who cooks, Connemara marble "wishing" stones and "worry stones," an antique-looking pin with the same stone in the design. You'll also find CDs, notecards, wall art, woolen wraps and jumpers, Ireland hoodies, and holiday ornaments. Malachy himself was a delight to meet. He told me, "Santa Claus introduced me to my wife!" and told me the back story - so sweet. An enjoyable and worthwhile place to stop and visit.

Should be your first stop in Roundstone!
Jul 2019 • Solo
I just hosted a week long painting workshop in Roundstone. Malachy, Jenny and Gifty were gracious and extremely helpful to my group of painters. But more than that, when you walk in the shop you are greeted with warmth and friendliness that immediately makes you feel like a welcome friend. Malachy was so kind to take the time to talk with my group, give a demonstration and answer questions. He was informative and generous with his expertise and his knowledge of drum making goes back over 40 years! Jenny was extremely knowledgeable and made everyone of us feel as though we were guests! I had my drum shipped home and can't wait to get going on learning to play! The drum is rich in history and legend, and I feel like I have a piece of my own history waiting to be discovered. Plus, my family and friends loved their gifts that I purchased from the shop, it really was my "one stop shopping" place in Roundstone. This is a "Must Stop Here First" sort of place. They'll get you all set for a memorable and fabulous visit to the most stunning corner of Ireland! Strongly recommended!!

A wonderful place to visit
May 2019 • Family
My wife, daughter and I stopped by Roundstone Music on a recent trip to the west coast of Ireland. A friend of ours, a retired band director, strongly recommended that we stop there on our way from Clifden to Doolin. We were so glad we did. The town of Roundstone is a gem, and Malachy's shop was the highlight. He engaged us as soon as we entered the shop and gave us a tour - explaining the process of making bodhrans and giving us a demonstration of how they are played. While my wife and daughter shopped, I sat down with Malachy and talked about our trip. We bought 2 drums which were shipped back to the USA and arrived soon after our return home. We were so glad we got to meet Malachy and will certainly visit him again on our next trip to Ireland.
