I wanted a family crest Bodhran for a friend of mine and I'm delighted with how it turned out. It's perfect. For Bodhrans there is only one option in Ireland and it's RM&C. Beautiful pieces of handcrafted artwork. Malachy was very helpful. Everything was done online and responce time to emails were super fast and the finished product arrived way ahead of time. Highly recommended.

I was looking for a personalized coat of arms bodhran as a wedding gift for a June 2020 date. I wanted it to be from an Irish artist and location and was so happy to find Malachy back in Feb 2020. His response time via email to numerous questions was excellent, his knowledge and guidance in my purchase was also excellent. Not to mention his patience, due to the pandemic the wedding date was up in the air and Malachy kindly held off putting a date on the bodhran until we had a new date set. The finished gift looks amazing and is a work of art to be admired for years to come. We look forward to making his shop a must visit place when we eventually get home to celebrate a new wedding date of July 2021. Thank you Malachy and stay safe and healthy all.

A visit to this Music museum and workshop is a must. We were so pleased to find the famous owner, Malachy Kearns was there. He is a delight to chat with, and very knowledgeable about the making of his famous Irish Bodhrans. He has a wonderful display of all Irish musical instruments, resources, and information.
There was also a lovely gift shop, but the highlight is the array of various Bodhrans.

A return visit to Roundstone Music with a group of 10 American adults. The place never disappoints. Malachy Kerans' wealth of knowledge about the bodhran drum is the best. Fun to have a go at it. Helped ourselves to tea/coffee and delicious homemade biscuits. Lots of shopping opportunities, from high end stuff to little trinkets.

Nice aul spot, lovely quirky amount of things to buy and a huge assortment of music gear. Shop has everything from books to bodhrans and a few other bits and pieces. Spoke to Malachy for a few minutes when we were paying. Nice friendly man. Will be back hopefully next time we venture down the way.

I bought one of Malachy Kearns' Bodhrans in 1987 and I can say it has stood the test of the time very well.

In all those years it has travelled with me twice around the world from warm climates with high humidity as Tahiti to colder humid climates such as the South of New Zealand and extremely dry ones such as German heated houses in Winter (20 deg C inside, minus 20 outside and low low humidity).

The instrument is still in perfect nick.

Many thanks for having made such a great instrument,

I first heard about this store 20 years ago and today I finally made a visit. This is where the finest bodhráns are handcrafted by Malachy and his team. The man himself gave is a warm welcome, an insight into his craft, and I picked up a beauty of a drum. A genuine and charming chap. Not looking to upsell; wants you to buy the right instrument for your needs. Thanks for the warm welcome Malachy and see you next time!

Hi. It's very uplifting to hear your kind words. Not so many Craftsmen or Instrument Makers choose to be available daily to the retail area too as it's very time consuming and the temptation to chat too long to fun visitors is huge. Our Goatskins are Never ever exposed to Strong Chemicals during De Hairing / De Fleshing stage. This would ruin the fibre and bounce back / energy of the Goatskin. We give Talks to groups if pre booked ( malachykearnsoffice@gmail.com) I see you enjoy authentic craftmanship

We went to buy a bodhran and during the process a shop assistant stared at us when the children were playing the drum. Didn't make me want to buy anything and we left. Seems a lovely place just keep your hands in your pockets. Don't play any instruments. "Don't try unless your going to buy one" oh and don't make a sound !

We've been going to Ireland for 15 years. When we were in the area, we would always stop at the Roundstone Music and Crafts and would spend much time there. I rated this Average because of the drums, otherwise, I would give this a Poor rating. Unfortunately, maybe the owners have changed, because what used to be a wonderful Irish experience is now filled with foreign employees who don't speak much English and who were more concerned about their personal conversations. If you want a bodhran, they do make lovely ones. Just skip the rest. Everything they sell now besides the drums is very cheap and touristy. We hope they change their business back to an enjoyable place to visit.

I am sorry the visitors have seen a change in staff as different .. My wife of 11 yrs Gifty runs the shop now , she is originally from Ghana ... as recession here bites severly , we work 7 days a week and shuffle family matters at same time , .. we cannot afford office staff now, hence lots of calls are made in our shop area .. its survival .. its not meant to be disrespectful , although I can your points .. we have a huge range of expensive gifts, clothing and jewellery etc in our craftshop .. and small souvenirs too .. perhaps you missed our craftshop area .. we aim to be decent , welcoming and caring of our visitors ... perhaps youu might consider re considering matters and your review " marks" .. we are one of the few authentic craftworkers in Ireland who actually show their craftmanship so closely .. and the history of the bodhran in three languages is on our walls in viewing area ... its our best effort ... please e mail me at bodhran@iol.ie if i may send you full history of bodhran etc .. , please ask your questions ... best regards too , slan , Malachy Kearns Owner
