    Amazing family trip
Wonderful food, excellent service, friendly staff. Shout out to Janet who looked after us so well. The bar and bathrooms were immaculate. The food was great, we had a light meal feast and everything was cooked well, was beautifully presented and tasted great. Not a morsel was left 😁. The dessert menu and coffees arrived really promptly. Definitely worth a visit.! Thanks so much Janet and Ellen. Well done!!!

    Great bar in Roundstone!
If you visit Roundstone, I recommend The Shamrock for bar food. It is consistently good and John, Ellen and the staff are always so helpful. Last night I had the Tempura prawn and a Goats cheese salad, my husband had curry, both were excellent. We eat here often and it gets really busy over Summer holidays, so might be best to book in ahead.

    Welcoming and delicious
We went into the bar for some lunch. A party of 6. We were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was homely and comfortable. Our family had a few games of pool on the table in the bar and we had a great time. Thank you.

Went here with my family over the weekend and it was just unbelievable! Faulty Towers eat your heart out! The owner is so rude and clearly finds dealing with customers an absolute chore. They have no service system in place so you will find bemused waiting staff constantly wandering up and down the road outside with arms full of takeaway food and asking everyone on the street if it belongs to them. We waited an hour for our food, were asked FIVE times by three different staff members what the six of us had ordered during that time only to be told by one that they had run out of fish and by another that our order had been "lost". We were told then that some complimentary drinks would be sent to our table as a gesture of goodwill. No drinks arrived, nobody asked if the food was ok when it eventually arrived (the takeaway fish and chips and frozen scampi at sit down restaurant prices can only be described as mediocre at best - tasteless super greasy overcooked fish & frozen chips)
When we voiced our disappointment to the owner he didn't want to know - definitely not the attitude of someone who takes any pride in his job, his staff or has any respect for his customers who are handing him their hard-earned cash. Needless to say we will not be returning. I hope these people find work they enjoy as this is not the business for them, that's for sure.

We stopped off in the lovely village of Roundstone for a spot of lunch. Luckily we went to the Shamrock bar! Even though Covid 19 lockdown was still in effect, we were able to take advantage of a gap between rain showers, and decided to have lunch outside.

First of all, I have to say that the welcome we received was lovely. friendly and gracious. We also noticed that the inside of The Shamrock Bar is immaculate, sparkling, and very inviting, we will have to return in more normal times to enjoy further!!

Herself had the scampi, and I had the Lamb burger, both came with gorgeous, piping hot and very tasty little buckets of chips! I normally wouldn't go for a LAmb burger, but I was feeling a bit adventurous - I am so glad I did - We were on holiday for a week, which burger was the culinary highlight of the week for me! Wow! .. Did it taste good! the scampi was perfect too!

There was another table of ladies who were having scones, which looked mout-watering! They look great too! The coffees that we got were really good too!

i thought the bill was very reasonable, and would highly recommend this gem in Roundstone in beautiful County Galway!

Based on what we had, I would say that everything on the menu is excellent! I promise you will enjoy!!

I am already looking forward to my next visit! :)

My friend and I were touring Connemara for the day and after our trip to Dogs Bay, stopped in Roundstone to gather supplies for our picnic. We got some bottles of water in the local shop but there were no sandwiches available and no deli so we decided to try to order takeaway sandwiches from somewhere instead. We also asked where we could find a public toilet, being 7 months pregnant I need to go a bit more regularly than normal. She pointed us in the direction of the Shamrock bar. We walked inside with our masks on and asked the English man behind the counter, who seemed like the owner, if they could do take away sandwiches, to which he replied that he could do us some chicken ciabattas. All sounded good, my friend nodded at me that she was also happy to go with this, and we asked if it would be alright to use their toilets. It was like a switch flipped in him and he was instantly so rude, declaring the toilets were for customers only. I'm not sure if this man suffers from acute short term memory loss but 10 seconds earlier we were ordering sandwiches?! We hadn't paid yet but if this was the issue I'm sure he could have asked for payment in a nice way before we received our order and this would have been fine. We were both quite shocked at his hostile attitude and matter-of-fact tone when he told us "you can't just walk in here and use the toilets, that's not how things are done". My friend said "that's not how you should treat your customers" to which he just reiterated how the toilets are for customers and we left. On our way out he said "well that answered that question" as if he were in the right to refuse us use of the toilets. As if after that treatment we would willingly hand this man our money?! Another customer was in the doorway and witnessed this and seemed to be shocked at this behaviour also. My family and I run a bar in Donegal which has been in business for 61 years, I dare say that this establishment will not see such longevity. We went up the street to the hotel and were received a warm welcome and some friendly chat, ordered 2 chicken wraps and were pleasantly pointed to the toilets when we inquired.

Probably the worst meal and experience I have ever had. Staff did not want to be there, waitress was extremely rude and the man (looked like the owner) was quite rude and really brought down the atmosphere of the place. He wouldn't even pull a pint of Heineken! The lady who also seemed to be running the place was lovely and was trying her best. Soup was like water and the ‘homemade’ brown soda bread was stale and from a packet. Could be improved by investing in a qualified chef, paying a bar man who can pull an actual pint and getting waitresses that actually wants to be there. Background music would also be a help! I know places are trying their best and I presume these are new to this business so I do apologise for this negative review but if this business wants to remain in Roundstone, a few changes and staff should be changed.

Terrible experience, went in looking forward to a nice beer and some food. Bar man John ignored us from the minute we walked in… eventually ordered our drinks from lovely lady. Unfortunately my bottle of coors lite tasted a bit off, I thought no problem as this happened me before a few years ago in another bar maybe the lid wasn’t on properly or bad batch.. no one’s fault really. But when I told him it didn’t taste right and could I swap it for a glass of lager instead (which is cheaper than a bottle anyway) well he absolutely lost the plot with myself and my friend … raising his voice in front of a bar full of people as if I was accusing him of something awful.. he proceeded to pour the bottle into the glass and spill it everywhere and telling us there nothing wrong with the beer that he’s the barman and he knows best??? Very angry tone… then printed the bill and told us in no nice way at all with a raised voice to PAY AND GET OUT!! he repeatedly kept saying this to us… we were absolutely mortified…. We paid and left… John was obviously having a very bad day and ended up ruining our day too. I will never recommend or revisit this pub. Sad day.. when all he had to do was replace the drink… the food was just mediocre.

Lamb burger to die for! Service was great. Ellen and Dillon were so kind and lovely to the kids. Kids menu was by far the best I've seen in a while with 12 for 3 courses it was exceptional value. Kids fish and chips were really good! So good I'm back a second night and I'm sure it won't be our last visit this week!

This is a lovely pub with a homely atmosphere. The landlord and lady - John and Ellen - are very friendly and welcoming. We were felt like part of the community while we were staying in Roundstone and enjoyed some banter with the locals around the bar in the Shamrock. They show live sport and the food is all freshly cooked. This is a great little pub with a friendly atmosphere and we'll be back without doubt.

Stopped here for some dinner when traveling the waw, food was fantastic.. service was just as good. Ellen I believe is one of the owners who served us and she was a pleasure. Slightly more expensive then you would expect but in the challenging times of c19, the food and service combined it was worth while. We look forward to a visit next summer. Keep up the good work guys.

There have been some poor reviews on trip advisor regarding The Shamrock. These included poor service, low quality food and awful customer service attitude.

However, we found it an excellent experience, Helen who served us was both pleasant, friendly and efficient, the food we were served was superb, lovely flavoured tomato soup and the best fish portion I've had in a long time. The chips could do with looking at, as they looked like frozen chips. But that's just a little niggle. They didn't detract from an excellent dining experience.

Afterwards talking to some of the locals they told us that in the past The Shamrock had some poor staff working there, who didn't care. From what we saw that has been sorted out. Really great evening in a nice atmosphere.

Lovely pub with a great / friendly atmosphere. We’ve visited here twice so far this week (12th & 14th June 22) and could not have been made more welcome. The food in both occasions (pizza, scampi and salmon tagliatelle) were lovely and good sized portions. The couple who own the pub were extremely friendly and welcoming.
