Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent, informative and comprehensive presentation by extremely knowledgeable members of Battle of Aughrim Historic Group covering aspects surrounding the battle.
I understand this is an annual event and I suggest it is well worth attending.
During the presentation I was made aware of the significance of the battle in Irish and European history.
Given the importance of this site I was surprised to learn that the Centre doesn’t receive funding from the national coffers and seems to depend on a dedicated group of interested individuals who have gathered and collated battle details.
Much needed funding would ensure that the Center could be updated, modernised and that the information gathered would be available to future generations.

Hannah met us when we went in. She gave us a short talk about the battle and the whole background. She is extremely knowledgeable, and she, obviously, loves history. After our tour of the very well organized museum, we sat down for a cup of tea, and Hannah joined us, and we continued talking about the effects of the battle on the local people and surrounding area. We then drove around the battle site which is very easy to follow with the help of the information markers. This could, also, be walked. Highly recommended!! Hannah suggested Jenny's Restaurant for lunch, and that was perfect for us. Lovely manageable portions of bacon and cabbage and a huge welcome there!

It can be very hard to make battles and battlefields interesting for the visitor or enthusiast. So much usually happens over a large area. Making sense of this is just what the Battle of Aughrim Interpretative Centre have done. This was a pivotal battle in Irish and English history. There is a 10km walk around the battlefield with interpretative plaques outlining what took place at each location. For the less active or time challenged, the Centre has an excellent and easy to follow video presentation of what happened during the battle as well as a large model of the battlefield and some historical artifacts. A small cafe is also present. Check the opening hours which are limited. Very helpful and knowledgable staff.

I was lucky to visit the Battle Site as part of a group on the 15th March.Although the centre was closed for winter, a friend was able to arrange the lady(sorry I'm bad with names), in charge of the centre to do a tour of the battle field.
It was excellent. She had grown up on a farm on the site and had a real in-depth knowledge and passion for the area and Battle Site.
It opens all summer,if your passing call in.

The centre is run by a very dedicated and passionate group of individuals. I was warmly welcomed by Marion, Abby and Michael and their time and knowledge was freely shared.
Information boards, artefacts, displays and narrated videos provide a broad understanding of the sequence of events on that day. In particular, Michael’s knowledge of all aspects of the battle was exceptional and using the detailed diorama as a focal point for discussion, I was able to fully appreciate the difficult terrain and tactics used by both sides. The terrible casualties and significance of the battle on Irish history was clearly evident.
The setup of the centre worked very well for me as along with visuals, I like to ask a lot of questions. The centre has parking, a cafe area and key sites are close by. It is also located in a beautiful part of Galway.
I highly recommend taking the time to visit the centre and surrounding area. Historical gems like this definitely need to be supported! This was a highlight of my visit to Ireland.

We came down with some friends for the lunch time talk, which was very interesting.i had visited previously and was very impressed by the changes to the displays. the dvd is a bit dated, but the table display is very creative and detailed. We had great fun dressing up in the costumes and really enjoyed our afternoon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I hate to say this, but this attraction is not ready for prime time. The tea shop has closed, one staff member, very limited number of artifacts, and a very amateurish diorama as the centerpiece. The video is good and the wall-hung text panels are good, but the rest struggles despite obvious good will.
Given the outstanding work and presentation at King John’s castle in Limerick (particularly with the dioramas) and the tie-in with the Jacobite war, I would hope someone would reach out and try to build a synergistic connection between these locations. This attraction desperately needs funding and professional attention.
The garden out back is gorgeous, though, so there’s that. Top marks to whoever works on it.
