Worth the quick visit and walk from the docks! Some great views of the town and island. Just be careful climbing up the castle in the wind and be sure to have strong footing.

Beautiful experience. The view from the castle was amazing. So nice to sit and relax. We were sorry we didn't bring picnic as weather was gorgeous.

One of many O’Brien castles near Galway Bay, the one on Inisheer is crumbling but central to the island. Built on the highest point on Inisheer, the hike up is steep but the views are stunning. From the tourists who were climbing up the walls and posing to the busker who was playing guitar, the range of experiences are many.

As others have said these ruins are not huge, but the views of the island and the ocean with the castle in the foreground, absolutely beautiful. I took some of my favorite pictures of my whole Ireland trip here.

We decided to walk up to the castle ruins and were rewarded with some great views of the Island. The castle ruins themselves are not large or really impressive, but they are on a great vantage point to see everything. Take the time to make the trek. It’s definitely worth the effort

Ireland is full of castles in ruins and we saw a lot of them. We took a ferry to Inis Sheer and this is one of the very few things to see on the island so we went to see it. This castle is not particularly large or exciting. I would not make a special trip to the island to see this but if you find yourself on Inis Sheer, then by all means go and see this castle. It is a walk up the hill. We hired a horse and buggy and the driver left us at the bottom of the hill to climb up and visit this castle.

The castle ruins itself are just ok, but what makes this place special is the views of the island's landscape and coastline. Perfect for panoramic mode for your phone's camera. What was also nice was a musician playing Irish music which was perfect for video mode as a soundtrack while capturing the landscape of the island.

Our tractor and trailer tour ended just below this castle at a little shop for coffee and tea, so when we hopped off, we hiked up to explore it a bit. It was nice to walk in and around it and get great views of Inisheer. From here you can also easily walk up to a 19th century tower or east to the route that goes to the lighthouse or west towards Inisheer's current church.

There's not much left of this small castle, but the treat is the great views of the beach and harbor below. On the backside of the castle is a faded face sticking out. If you get off on the boat, go counterclockwise on the island to avoid the tours.
