We were treated to a relaxed, informative walk with Aedín whose enthusiasm for her subject matter is infectious! She revealed plantlife in the lanes and ditches which had hitherto been invisible to me! She gave us plant names in Engish and in Irish and recounted many interesting anecdotes! Who would have thought what wonderful properties "Eyebright" is purported to have!

I was glad to have gone on this guided walk at the start of my week. After Aedín's fascinating walk I cannot "unsee" the plants I had blindly walked past on previous visits! For the rest of my week on Inis Meáin my eyes were peeled for Bloody Crane's-bills, Babington leeks, wild orchids, wild carrots and strawberries! The carrots were out of season but the
strawberries weren't! Thanks Aedín!

My family (2 adults, 4 children aged 3-10) did a wildflower tour with Aedín on a recent visit to Inis Meain. I had seen online that Aedín was running a tour on the island that weekend and when I contacted her to enquire whether it would be suitable for children, she very kindly offered to do a separate walk just for us.

All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Aedín has a great grá (love) of bláthanne fiáine and for the Irish language. We learned so much about the wildflowers, with lots of interesting island history and cultural references included too. The kids loved making flower crowns along the way, and Aedín made sure that the information was fun and engaging for them.

Tharr barr, a h-Aedín! Míle buíochas.

Míle buíochas Aeidín as trathnóna álainn leat ar Inis Meáin. Bhí na bláthanna agus an siúlóid go hálainn ach an béaloideas agus na scéalta beaga a mhuscail siad agus an chraic leis an ngrúpa is mó a thaitin liom féin. Cuir i láthair iontach gealgaireach uait féin , fair plé dhuit táim ag féachaint ar an dialann chun filleadh go luath arís. Molaim go hard thú

Molaim go hárd an siúlóid álainn seo le Aedín - cuireann sé go mór le cuairt chuig Inis Meáin. Maith thú Aedín!

I'm happy to highly recommend this really enjoyable walk with Aedín, who is a wonderful guide - it is a great addition to a visit to Inis Meáin, it's worth a trip to Inis Meáin in itself, and it is a lovely way for islanders to gain some further knowledge about the natural beauty all around us!
Well done Aedín!

This wildflower walk was excellent. Some in our group had limited mobility but despite this Aedín's walk ensured everyone was included and had ample time to examine or taste the plants and flowers we were shown. Interesting and enjoyable, with a good mix of folklore and interesting facts thrown in. This walk enriches a visit to Inis Meain and presents a view of the landscape that could otherwise be missed.

Aedin's guided tour was an absolute eye-opener for me, a novice gardener come hillwalker.
As we walked leisurely along Inis Meain's tiny roads and meadows with its unassuming and dare I say "boring" greenery, Aedin would stop at random spots where the most beautiful plants would almost magically appear. She has a wonderful easy manner inviting all the walkers to share their stories about any plants they knew. She reveals fascinating insights on ,these tiny plants, pointing out their delicate features and important roles in biodiversity, medicine and folklore.
I will never look at a hedgerow (or a juniper berry) the same way again!
Highly recommended

Very enjoyable and informative walk. It made me think differently about all those wildflowers and supposed weeds I walk past on the roadside and in the fields every day, The walk does not entail any great distance or exertion we only had to go on a few steps before we landed on our next bunch of flowers or herbs and at an hour and a half it was just the right amount of time. Thoroughly enjoyed it although I refuse to believe that dock leaves do not cure nettle stings! Rinne muid an siúlóid trí Bhéarla ach caitheadh isteach roinnt eolais faoi ainmneacha Gaelacha na luibhe chomh maith, ag súil leis an turas a dhéanamh arís níos déanaí sa bhliain.

This was an opportunity to view the richness of the apparently and superficially barren landscape through a fascinating lens looking at the fabulous heritage of the plant life on the island. By inviting me to look through a holistic lens looking through folklore and comparing with other countries, it brought my experience of the island to a different and much deeper level.
